Swaybar removal pro and con

It's probably apples to oranges, but my D1 has had it's swaybars off for years and it's never bothered me. I'm sure it bothers people driving behind me on curves. :)
Local on ramp posted for 30 or 35 I can easily take at 53.
That's with OME 2" and 2" body lift.
I typically run 7.50x16 tires.

The tipover for Series 1 was 45.
I've never seen a published measurement for the elevation measurement.

Nice pic.

25-28 deg will make an amateur gigly, 30-35 deg; most will have to check for wetspots, and anything 35 to tipover angle requires a fresh set off depends!

In my truck, Id be nervous just because flopping it over means I just f'ed my truck. Give me your truck and Ill gladly take it past 35 :sombrero:

Hmmm... I figured it was about the half height of the wheels. I mean, the engine has to be 24" overall height to start with? I really have no idea. But 6" seems impossibly low.

Guy that worked with the BMW f1 team just texted me back. They shoot for 7". The g-force doesn't have as much to do with CoG as it does with downforce.

AedoFab Sway Bar Disconnects

check out www.aedofab.com ... I have had Mike's sway bar disconnects for 10 years. They are easy and provide the best of both worlds at a reasonable price.:victory:

I just took both of mine off today and took it for a spin. The ride is smoother than with the bars on. Body lean isn't too bad in the corners. Just have to go slightly, arc your corner a little more and be more alert while driving. It feels nearly as stable as with the bars once the truck has taken a 'set' as opposed to a quick manuever where the springs are relatively unloaded and then loaded heavily. I plan on keeping them off unless I find there is a major problem having them off at higher speeds (I only took it up to about 55 today). It was a really simple process to remove them, only took me about 20 mins to do both after hitting the bolts with a little PB blaster to loosen them up. Tools needed are a 18mm open ended wrench and a #40 Torx or Star socket. To those that haven't done it, I would suggest trying it atleast to see if you like it since it takes so little time.

Wheeled at SAE for the first time without the sway bars. I LOVED it. It is a lot smoother and I don't think I picked up a tire once. My dog even noticed the difference. No more flying from one side of the back seat to the other on off camber stuff. Even if you want to keep them on for the street, I would definately recommend taking them off if your going to be wheeling for a few days.
