Sneak peak of my new Eezi-Awn 1600 T-Top on it's maiden voyage. (thanks Sierra Expeditions!)

My wife absolutely loves the added room. It's like house!

Oh, and yes it is attached directly to the canopy. More on that later (just got back in town and I'm beat).

Very Cool...
I also would like some pics of the inside and some "in process" setup/take down pics.
Hope your trip went great.

I second that, would love to see some interior shots. Can't wait for the follow up.

With that set up who needs a gas guzzling RV.

Cool license plate too, never did follow that BC attitude that considers Alberta plates learner plates. Guess a few years living in Calgary, right outta university, taught me whom really can drive in the snow. But I'm getting off topic.

Very nice RTT.

Here are some more pics...

Once you have the tent open and the ladder down, there is an extension to the frame on each side of the tent (notice the knob on the left side of the pic.

Extend out the frame.

The tent body is wrapped around the end of the frame with a solid velcro wrap.

This is what the outside corner looks like with tent lifted off the frame.

t-top13.jpg

Tent pulled over the edge of the frame and the fly attached.

t-top14.jpg

Extended with only the rear wall attached (all of the side walls are removed before the tent is closed and must be stored separately).

Some initial thoughts:

  1. With the window and door closed, the add a room is really dark. I've already purchased those Ikea lights to try out.
  2. The side walls attach with a combination of a slide in and steel hooks.
  3. For all the extra weight hanging off the tent with the sides, I am very impressed with how stable the whole system is. The frame is simple, but it will hold up in a storm.
  4. The side walls must be pegged down. The included pegs are your typical poor pegs - they will be replaced with Easton spikes shortly.
  5. Overland Journal was correct - the the fly will let little bugs in.
  6. The T-Top includes a floor for the room. Haven't tried it yet, but it's a not a tarp material. It's weave like material that looks easy to clean.
  7. This tent REALLY needs a shoe bag.

My initial concerns:

  1. It's big and heavy, but that's the price you pay for luxury.
  2. I was really disappointed with the bottom of the tent doors (not the room, but the tent itself). There are doors on both sides of the tent which is nice, but the bottom doesn't seal. Here is an example - I'm going to have to add some velcro.

  3. The hinge area doesn't totally seal. There is some velcro and it is kind of handy to put things up there (like wiring for a light), but I need to fix it up.
