My current shackles are 6.25 eye to eye. So I would really just level out. I wouldn't gain to much travel up front though, just strength right? When I priced it was a lot more because I priced with a more expensive housing and with coil springs up front. I didn't want to loose drivability. I just think I need to do more research. Leafs up front would be simpler and cheaper. I still need to regear so that is a few more dollars.
You will gain alot more flex and strength plus stability when flexing do to it being one unit instead of two indy units. One side goes up the other is pushed down on with equal force. Do to the placement of where the front shackle hangers have to be located puts them lower than the rear so thats the reason for two different size springs or shackles to level the rig. Let me put this out,THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IFS it was just developed for a more car like ride so that kind of sums it up for me. IFS rely's on the coil spring rate to push down opposed to the weight of the vehicle pushing down. Lets see how many people get pissed at me.

I love my IFS, but for as long as I have had the truck I have been planing on a SAS at some point if I could keep the truck from getting to high. Maybe in a few more miles.

You could run non lift springs with the shackle size you have and that would fit 33's easy if you get front springs with the center pin foward moving the axle 1.5" foward ,there should be no rub and that might put you at the height you are looking for.

If I do SAS it some day I would like 5" of lift and I will run 35s even if I have to trim.
Sounds like something good to work towards, if I can be of any help let me know.

I would love to do a swap one day but I know I never will, at least not on the truck I have now. For what I do and what I need, IFS does everything perfectly. One day though I would like to see a regular cab V6 parked in my driveway with a SAS just for play! Seriously, has anyone done a regular cab?

My truck is my daily driver, it has 104,000 miles on it , I built it at 18,000 miles so I've clocked alot of miles with the SAS. I've done trails from Mojave easy to Rubicon. Seems like people have been mislead about the driveability of SAS. So I guess everyone thinks Jeeps, Rover D90's, nissan patrols, and FJ60 - 80's are just the roughest rides even though they are some of the most sought after rig's. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE.

It's not that at all. I don't really need comfort in a daily driver. It is that I had my truck undercoated and that would need to be sandblasted off in order to do the swap. Big nasty mess. That and I have kinda gotten used to driving too fast with my DR's up front!

I didn't mean to sound like I was going off cause I wasn't. I've just heard that alot on the forum and I don't want people to be discouraged. As for under coating, you can pick up rattle cans of under coating and only sand off the small area's that need to be welded to. Single cab taco's have a perfect wheelbase, and I've seen a few around.

I use rattle can primer followed by rattle can undercoating and it seems to hold up pretty well. I touch it up twice a year just to be safe.

It is good you use your taco as a DD taco chaser. I am at 140k and will either wait for another 100k to do a sas along with a lot of other things or do a newer taco some day. Just depends where I am at in a couple years. For now I am going to enjoy my sweet IFS and RaceRunner coilovers.

I agree with you about the 60 comment you made. My 55 actually rides better as a DD than my taco. The taco likes speed. The girlfriend doesn't, but that is something different all together.

IFS works very well and can be beefed up , look at trophy trucks and the speed and terrain they mash over, that's where IFS shine's. I'm just trying to let you guy's know SAS is not as bad as you have been led to beleive, both styles of suspension are excellent and purpose built.

Yeah, we might go out to barney riley mainly for fishing and the hot tubs, but I like to plan a larger trip and post it on the portal. You got anything going on, any trails you feel like doing? I'm back up in the hills for a while, swing bye or call me, I can't remember the prefix of your number
