Is this known to fit the 22R-E? I ask because it looks like according to Safari the SS105HF is designed to fit a 22R and will not line up with the EFI airbox. Just wondering if you've personally installed it on a '89-'95 pickup with a 22R-E and know first hand that it does work.

i installed a snorkel on an 86 4runner. I'm not sure it it's the same part number, but my 4runner did have a 22re. The snorkel kit did not include the hose that connects from the factory airbox to the snorkel. it had to be fabbed up.

again, not sure if the 86 22re would be the same setup as the 89-85...

most people solve this "parts deficiency" with a trip to home depot and about $10 in pvc pipe and elbows...

That's the snorkel for the V6 of that vintage, but it does look to enter the left fender at about the right place. There's a hole in the inner fender right about there and maybe a different elbow or something would do it.

The SS-105HF looks like it'd come through the fender right where the coil and igniter on my truck are located.

The outside part of the snorkels are probably the same and that would the owner to adapt it to a 22R-E equipped truck. The problem is that if I'm paying $350 for a snorkel and have to throw away half of the custom molded parts that are designed to seal the air box, then it seems like an awful waste of money.

gotcha, the website didn't mention which motor just a year range.

you're right about the wasted money parts, etc. I wonder if you should just wait for a cheap used one(for whichever model toy)...i think one was selling here for a while....and adapt it. (it would seem you'll have to adapt anything you buy, right?)

Yeah, probably. I would have thought there would be more 22R-E (EFI) powered trucks than V6s around the world, but I guess most world trucks would be the 22R (carb) or diesel. Shrug.

That is cool, I like the prefilter...

My truck has done well in deep water so far.

That looks pretty intense, was the water flowing fast or were you going fast into it? Where was that picture taken?

I was driving relatively slow, the water was flowing fast.

A somewhat controlled activity (i.e. the right vehicle, experienced driver, support available), but certainly not something I would recommend someone doing.

WOW! That is awesome!!!! :REExeSwimmingHL: My expierence with deep water crossing in an 00 Taco is that the electrical is very well sealed from the factory. I also went through and packet dielectric grease into all the connectors. I haven't crossed as much water as in that pic, but I have been through a LOT of water in the swamps of NC, and never had electrical problems. Make darn sure all your boots and any other seals are good though!

Wish I was there. Are you going to be in Mojave with us?

Unfortunately, no... I am going to drive ECDD next week though. I should take the truck, but I am kinda falling for that little Disco in the driveway. It would be fun to drive a completely stock truck on that road, go old school.

There's always next year, but it sounds like you've got some cool plans, go Disco for that cadillac ride. Hope to see you around, it's been awhile.
