As far as I know, Nissan Navara and the Nissan Frontier are the same trucks, but not sure if the tank of the Xterra and Frontier are the same.

Actually, there are some big differences between the trucks. The D40 is built in three different factories throughout the world. Each factory builds them slightly different. Enough that there will be significant differences in the frame and other parts of the truck. Aftermarket bumpers made for the trucks built in Spain won't bolt up to trucks built in the US, etc. I'm not sure how much difference there is in fuel tanks, but I know there's some rather large differences in the rest of the truck.

I know the first gen tanks are the same. According to Edmunds.com, both the Xterra and the Frontier have 21.1 gallon tanks, so there's a good chance they are the same. Here's the problem though. What's underneath a Frontier is different from an Xterra, so there might be something that's in the way on the X that isn't there on the pickup.

I emailed long range and asked. My thought though, is the frontier isnt that much different than the xterra...the wheel/tire specs are the same. Even if they say it doesnt bolt right on, I cant imagine there being much fabrication required to make it work.

Next step would be to link up with a frontier owning member here, get underneath the trucks and see what is different, if anything.

It's possible they're pretty similar. Also bear in mind that the Frontier has a 20" longer wheelbase too, so there could be more room for extra tank that doesn't exist in the Xterra. But I don't know for sure.

It does, its like 126 to 106. Could be an issue, although the fact its made to fit within the spare tire well gives me hope. If thats the case, then modifications to the fuel lines and possibly the mounting solution might be all it takes.

Ill link up with Mo4130 when im out in Cali and compare.

Sounds like a good plan. I'm looking into a long range tank as well. If you go that route, I'd love to know how much effort it takes to fit the tank.

Looks like the Navara fuel tank replaces the standard fuel tank and doubles the capacity, and the tank pushes all the way to the rear axle. Which means the wheel base is a huge issue......

FrontRunner does make aux tanks that fits where the spare tire fits, and drops the spare down 65mm. It has 17gal extra capacity...will take a look at it when we are situated out west.

Xterra and Frontier/Navara fuel tanks are not cross compatible. I second Telluride, its a beautiful drive in.
