Telling A Story With Video

GTA- your video seems fine to me, especially for just using a go pro.

I dig this story:

So I have a question about the music used. In my mind, music is what makes the video. It can completely change the mood and feel of what you're looking at depending on the choice of music

How do you go about finding music and what's available to use?

I have a friend who was posting up some really sweet dual sport riding videos and he got an email saying he was in Copyright violation from Sony Music because he handt paid for use of the music he was using in his videos.

They basically sent him a cease and desist letter telling him he had to take it down or he be contacted by their lawyers.

Imagine if that was your job as a employee for Sony Music BMG. You get to sit and surf the web all day to find videos being posted using your labels artists without consent!!!

It has been my experence that the music is usually ok if used for a not for profit video. Ocassionally I was running in to issues with songs but lately it has been not an issue. You tube now lists the song and auther under most videos if the song had the data installed in it when used.

This is from my recent trip in October last year.
Was simply shot on an old 1CCD dv camera as I was originally just filming for memory sake. Then after we had so a unforgettable time I just couldn't help load up all the tapes and get editing. A full length vid is in the works.

This may be less of telling a story but more of conveying a mood and a feeling. Good friends, happy partners and a great adventure. Life is good and all that jazz :smiley_drive:

I've been doing lots of reading on the video editing side of the HD DSLR thing. I've recently moved up to the 5D Mark II which is more capable than I'll ever be able to use it for when it comes to shooting HD Video, and this video stuff is like opening up a whole new world to me.

Reminds me of my early days behind the camera when I was almost scared to use it because I had no idea what to do with it once I'd taken a ton of photos.

While reading through some various threads on POTN, I came across this video. Warning better grab a box of tissues before viewing the it.

The last three minutes produced and directed by Po Chan and shot with the Canon 5D Mark II depicts a mans memories during the last three minutes of his life.

Friggin amazing work on this video!!!!!! I'm so blown away that something like this can be shot with what I own that it just dwarfs everything I've been drawing up in my little head:drool:

Sort of. I mean, he also added a few hundred thousand dollars worth of lights, dolly's, stabilizers, mic's, recording gear, etc.... Not to mention the 50+ professional's he had helping him bring that to fruition. It's a great story, and very well done, but I don't draw from it as an example of what is achievable with a few basic accessories, a team of one, and some basic software. I think there are better examples of that kind of setup to be found.
