The 2013 Range Rover being driven on the Las Vegas Strip

Ok, the other video was cute. But this is ridiculous. What is this video, other than a commercial? It shouldn't ever be in this "completed adventures and events" forum. I guess LRLV must be paying some beau coup ad fees to expo.

Ok folks we have a policy around here of not pooping in someones trip report...
Even if it is a car dealership that doesn't take the rig off asphalt.
Or if the driver rubbernecks an accident scene.
Or if there is no indication that the vehicle did anything that a Prius couldn't do.

We just don't make fun of anyone's posting trip reports in the Completed Adventures section.

Why, yes . Yes it is. And as far as I know LRLV are indeed sponsors on the portal (judging from their previous postings), so I believe they are entitled to post this. If you don't like it, move on. The title clearly said, "The 2013 Range Rover being driven on the Las Vegas Strip." I'm sorry; what exactly was the surprise again?
No dog in this fight;I'd never be able to afford one, and I have nothing to do with LRLV.

The thing I love most about this site is clicking on the "Completed" expeditions and adventures sections to read stories, see/watch pics/videos of people enjoying the outdoors, whether that means jessejmans' trek across america in his FZJ80 or Silverspider's recent report of his voyage in So Africa in a Land Rover. The sole purpose of these people sharing their stories is to Share their stories. When the motives are something other than that, in which those motives are supported by the moderators/owners, I start to question where the site is heading.

To be clear, I have no issues with "asphalt" adventures, as I've done plenty. Over and out.

This was posted in the completed adventures and events section, which is meant for more local and shorter trips.

For the jungles, deserts and long distance stuff, we have the completed expeditions section

LRLV pays the same as all of the other site sponsors, which helps to pay for the server costs. When a company becomes a sponsor, they are welcome to post their own trips. They are a fun group of folks and like to capture their short trips, even with a new RR on the strip. We could all have fun with a 2013 Range Rover in Las Vegas for a few days. ;)

I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. I drove my D1 rover to Safeway and the local library today but it never dawned on me to post this asphalt/concrete "completed adventure" on ExPo.

I suppose you folks could chip in and help pay for some of the cost required to run a website, that way sponsors wouldnt be required. If thats something your not willing to do then its not productive to get all self righteous about the very means that keeps this site up and running.

With all due respect, the subtext under this forum reads, "Post Backcountry and Overland trip reports, events and training." I saw no backcountry or overland scenery in the vid. Just making an observation. :D

Here is a trip guys, I didn't report it though. More interesting, right?

Yay, dirt! :D

I agree with you there. Glad we have sponsors. But they wouldn't be here without us, either. I think to keep this symbiotic relationship drama-free would be to ahere to the rules. Just because I pay for sponsorship (I'm not a sponsor, just to be clear), doesn't (or shouldn't) give me the right to post whatever, whereever I want. I'm all for Kurt Williams, Paul May's, or other sponsors posting pics of their cool adventures to places I'll probably never get to see in real life. Yeah, throw in pics or plugs of their products--no problems with that, because, well, that's probably what pays for their trips. :D But to post up something like this vid? Well, I don't agree with it, but I just won't click in these threads anymore. Problem solved for me.

BTW, I didn't mind the 1st vid where there was some actual backcountry/offroad footages. Post more of that instead.

You guys are being a little rough. Land Rover Las Vegas is a really nice bunch of guys that like all types of Land Rovers and other brands. They have a sweet FJ40 on the back lot. They are a forum sponsor, but they are just trying to share some of their recent videos. I would agree that the video has little to do with overland travel, but it is a new and unique vehicle. It is just nice to see some footage of one in the flesh.

Lets make an attempt at being gracious and gentlemanly hosts, please.

Oh, and Land Rover Las Vegas has other models in their dealership too, like this sweet D130. That alone is worthy of a little slack?
