The Alaskan

Me and my wife just finished a 20 day WV to CA trip in are jeep cherokee, Now were planning are next trip which is Alaska in 2021, I know we have to have a larger vehicle for this trip so I bought these two. The quigley has been a pipeline crew van its entire life and has low miles but rough, so I'm going to marry these two together because I hate the slider door and I wanted a hightop...

Before that I built an offroad teardrop, it ended up being to heavy for the jeep to pull long distances... It was fine in the WV mountains, but no way I would drag it out west... I'm hoping the van is my last build and I can just enjoy nature, my wife needs more room as we stay out for longer trips..

Should be a pretty straight forward body swap...I'd take advantage of the access to do some preventative mechanical (intake/valve cover gaskets) stuff and replace the belt driven/hvac items with new..

One reason I want to swap body's and not just put the hightop on the quigley is so I can clean and paint the frame and change all brake and fuel lines... I'll also be removing the engine and trans to do maintenance... anything that wears will get a refresh... I'm 50 now so I want it to last me the rest of my life and travel a lot of miles....

I've been doing maintenance and putting some miles on the van, I finally felt comfortable enough to tow the jeep with it the other day.. Did great, the 5.7 had more power then I expected.... I've always had 5.3/6.0 chevys to tow with. I've also been daily driving the hightop and it seems to be a very nice van, kinda hate to take it apart.. 67766698_3007486915960640_3877370520617877504_o.jpg

I haven't got anything done on the Alaskan except using it for a truck for the bus build... Now that the weather is turning cold I'm going to stop working on the bus and get the van done for spring... The bus build is tough I can't wait to get on the van and back in my comfort zone..75264892_3244533748922621_7861893049272500224_n.jpg72234324_3218154068227256_2045745106937446400_o (1).jpg72438487_3217792904930039_2297981883327184896_o.jpg73238010_3217310611644935_2454281962341269504_o (1).jpg75264892_3244533748922621_7861893049272500224_n.jpg
