The Baja Bus 1994 FZJ80 Build

I never really gave a crap about swing-out tire carriers, until I saw your swing-out *kitchen*. Freakin A man, I want that!

Sweet 80 and I look forward to watching you build a 100! Mine is being modded very slowly, it's hard having a Jeep trail rig *and* a Hundy. I guess you didn't really have anywhere else to go with the 80!

Thanks man, It is a real pimp set up, it is just heavy.

Well it looks like I am going to have a few more installments to this thread while I still own the Bus. The new owner (PCGuy, he is a computer guy not PC,PC) purchased new Procar seats and a Tuffy center console that I will be installing for him before he picks the Bus up on October 19. He also purchased a Roof Rack for it that will be installed before heads back to the East Coast. I think it is awesome that he bought it and the first thing he is going to do is take a fishing trip across this great country of ours. I am happy it is going to a great guy.

Well just re-read your build and enjoyed it just as much the second time around! 😜 Still bummed the hell out I don't have cash right now and couldn't buy this beast! Really hoping I can find one close too this later in this year... Hope new owner really enjoys and takes care of the Bus...😜

The Procar seats arrived Friday afternoon and I bolted them. I must say they are very nice seats and give a 1000% improvement over the factory seats. The range of motion of these is spectacular and they took me about an hour to install. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to replace the factory junk. These were a direct bolt in so I didn't take a whole lot of pictures.

Got the Tuffy console installed, it was not that hard took me a few hours to get it in a bolted down. These things are HUGE!

Well I guess this is about it for my portion of the build, PCGuy is coming this weekend to pick her up and take her back to the east coast. I gotta say I am going to miss her, but it time to move on to new adventures...

You never know. Right now I'm looking at some nice late 90's, 80 Series Rigs or 100 Series rigs, priced from $15k to $25k. Fun too look, no cash yet, but at least I'll be kinda informed when I do buy! Wish I had your mad skills 😜

Nearly two weeks ago we said good bye to this truck. I was there the last day Krazytoy had it. It was such a sweet truck and the last few mods he did before it left were right up my ally. IE, the Procar seats and Tuffy console I liked a lot. It also got a nice roof rack and some LED light on the rear bumper.

I have already seen the truck 2-3x since if left Krazytoy's house. The new owner is working his way back home fly fishing and well in my neck of the woods is good fishing! The truck will not soon be forgotten and I am planning on hammock bars incorporated into my bumpers on one of my builds after seeing how sweet it was on this FZJ80!

Cheers

Hello all,

As the new owner of this fabulous truck I can report how pleased I am with it after my initial 3,000 mile shakedown cruise. I posted my progress on facebook to reassure friends and family that I was indeed returning to the East Coast (apparently odds were 50/50 they'd never see me again), but I didn't realize krazytoy had continued the build thread or I would have checked in here as well.

Perhaps someone could advise on protocol: should I continue with this thread or start a new one? In addition to documenting any modest changes/additions to the truck, I'd like to post pics of my trip home as kind of a sentimental send-off. Awww....

Hey,
It is my opinion that you should start a new thread with a link to this thread, it is your baby now and you need to take credit for your own adventures and modifications. I am very happy that the Bus went to great guy that I know will take care of it.
With that said I purchased my new 100 and will be starting the build thread next week. Life goes on even without the bus!
