The "bird feeder" snorkel head - what's it's purpose?

80 series with the 1HD-T and 1HZ had the bird feeder from the factory, I have both styles of snorkel top and I can't see a single difference from a function standpoint.

OK, I recently picked up an OEM birdfeeder to replace my 7x knock-off hat on my FleaBay dorkel

Thing is, the tube size on the FleaBay dorkel is larger than the OEM snorkel, so I had to swap the lower intake plates.

This also meant swapping over the steel mounting plates for the lower plenum and riveting them in place.
