The DiscoDavis Discovery 3 Build Thread

Would I purchase it again if I had the choice? Honestly, I don't know. I've love to ride in somebody's LR3 w/a Prospeed rack and see what the noise difference is.

I hit this here and elsewhere in the threads, but I'd say the difference is night/day. That's not just based off having a FR rack on my D3, it takes into account having a D1 that's had SD high and now low racks (with a wind fairing). In terms of DD with a rack as far as noise and fuel go I think its the gold standard. The absence of ready made accessories compared to FR and relative cost are valid though. I do think the way you can bolt stuff to the PS rack makes it decent enough, but not the ease nor the breadth of products that FR brings to bear.

Speaking of I have not seen any other rack up close in person other than MAYBE a voyager I saw at a club meeting one time. The idea of modularity I am liking more and more these days, I like to be able to throw the contents of the boot space up on the roof in case we need the jump seats.

Ray, do all the PS racks have that fancy alu decking panels? Or is that an extra

Its an extra but I didn't get it, though it is highly regarded. I want to-and ultimately will end up ordering as the truck moves to the US-use the same polymax flooring that I have on my SD rack. I like that material and find it very easy to modify to add elements on to the rack.

Can't say I blame you. That stuff is stupidly good :ylsmoke:

Seat covers 2/3

Quality-wise, forgot to change the camera settings from work-email quality to normal setting (2.4 vs 16MP)...

First needed to clean everything up, remove front covers, remove vinyl covers in rear, drawers, etc. Shop vac and damp rags on seats, carpet, trim.

Never liked how loose the OEM covers fit. Comfort 05/10. Waterproof/Ease of cleaning 10/10 though. They did the job.

Found the installation guide for the OEM front seat covers that I thought I lost

Everytime I have the seats down I nerd out over how neat it is to have lots of space

I think I am going to have to splurge on a set of those. Have been on my radar for years with my D1's. They look great on the LR3. :D

Nice man!
Our LR3 came with a set of oxmoor covers for the rear seats.
Between our 2 year old and our coonhound, they are a Godsend.

I wouldn't mind getting matching fronts.

Oh yeah man, those are the bee's knee's right there. I love my covers more and more everyday. Worth every penny and a bag of chips for the spare change left over.

Can't wait to see the full install on your rig. I'm putting the rear vinyl cover down in the back cuz I rarely use the rear seats so they are down 95% of the time. M&M covers up front are superb and all I needed but that full set is gangster for sure.

Those seat covers look amazing but I think its worth noting that one area Land Rover knows how to do things right is leather seats.

I beat the absolute crap out of mine and use an air compressor with a blow attachment or a leaf blower to get the sand off after each "ride".

I completely understand protecting them but just more for future/current owners who may think the leather is a weak point.

Love the build BTW!

Give M&M a call! Nicole and Sam are superheroes in getting your order out.

Yes I too am excited for that exact reason... before it was cardboard and towels for the pup, but no leather now means open season.

Beautiful and powerful vehicle.

Thanks eh :)

Seriously. Everything you said and more. Not even one bit sad about the $$$ pricetag. Like Swiss infrastructure, you see where every cent of that cost went. I don't blame you, it took quite a while to get the other 5 seats done...

Wow!!

They are not charging enough for those!!

No they are not. ;)

You are correct, LR does leather very well, hard-wearing, and still comfortable. I just hate the perforated seats and I get dirty almost every day... no time to vacuum during the workweek! Plus what was mentioned is that the canvas is great for the doggies, no more claw danger (or less so). Some days I will miss the leather, maybe... :)
