The Expidithor - a 4x4 boat.

My friend built this prototype to get to some remote lakes in Northern Quebec. This was the first version and was mostly built to demonstrate the hydraulic actuator concept he has developed. He has since built a new version of this "4x4 boat" which is more refined.

I thought that some of you might enjoy this.

An interesting take on the self launch/self retrieve boat concept.

One yacht manufacturer has fitted their boat with pop-out tracks (similar to those fitted to a mini-excavator) mounted in the hull to self launch and retrieve.

The Gibbs/Aquada type of retractable drive/steering wheels would make for an interesting and versatile 4x4 amphibious vehicle/camper, but would be extremely expensive.

Interesting concept, certainly gives new meaning to the term, "Ramp Over Clearance".

I wonder if the possible destruction of nests or anything else was thought about, or is this something in that part of the world where it doesn't matter.

@Ultimark Seems like damage imposed on the bank is minimal. Way less than what otters, muskrat and moose do anyway.
