my Ram 1500 was at 25l per 100km I keep telling myself its about smiles per gallon not miles per gallon, but 5.7 hemi in the cold sure uses a lot more fuel. No to mention you actually need it to be in 4X4 to traverse this city since the mayors office decide plowing is optional. Its already down to 20l per 100 since the stupid cold left

The trucks excuse is large tires and towing a trailer.
The van I guess just being a big heavy block, and a city that has red lights everywhere. Plus it's been -30 a good portion of the winter so more idling than usual, and add in a lot more snow than usual.

Ah. Yeah, -30 and stop and go commute make a big difference. I'm lucky in the sense that my commute is all highway/ freeway.

Preliminary route on our way to Newfoundland.
I don't want to go through Ottawa or Montreal so will have to spend some time and see what viable alternatives there are.

Was going to pull the camper out of storage but saw the forecast and changed my mind.
Going bush camping next weekend so don't need the trailer just yet anyway.

Hard to tell but my transmission skid and oil pan skid have some good damage now from a hidden rock under the snow.
These things have paid for themselves.
Being aluminum, I'm not sure if I should take them off and try to straighten them out, or if that would weaken the metal further?

Worse than I thought. Pretty sure the plate made contact with the front differential. 4x4 worked tho and no weird noises.

It actually seems like only the EPAS rack got tapped. Sure hope that doesn't act up suddenly while towing

Ah yes the debate goes on. Some say straighten them out others say don't. My vote is don't mess with them unless they are hitting something underneath or look compromised in some way. I wonder if RCI will comment on what to do if you contacted them?

I got some aluminum ones as well waiting to regear next week then installing them.

I'm worried what happens the third time I hit something and it puts the plate right into my EPAS unit.
I just emailed RCI will see what they say.
Wheelbase is long and my tires aren't particular large, it was bound to happen.

Managed a night of camping despite the rain and flood warnings. Packed up at 15:00 Saturday and it was a thunderstorm and pouring rain by 15:30!
Gormet meals on the fire and even managed a "water crossing" ?
But that was in town and not the bush.

Just went out for four days to Rushing River Ontario with my wife and met up with my two best friends and their families.
Glad we got the dual batteries and solar as we charged all of the devices!
40-60kph cross wind gave me 22l/100km @ 100ish kph on the way there, but thanks to a tail wind on the way back it was 19l/100km and 120!

Anyone know this forum member? I briefly talked with him, he said he was from Maine I believe? Tacoma with a flip top habitat and a Mission Overland trailer. I had two kids and a dog with me and also didn't want to bug him on vacation too much but I swear he said his screen name was TacomaOverland or something similar.

Grassland, on your route posted earlier ... if you haven't been ... you're going right past the turn for Sleeping Giant (might want to check into that). And missing the big nickel and mine tour in Sudbury (kids).

The water was very brisk. My friend fell off her paddle board and was not at all impressed.
I went in to my knees and said no thanks! Daytime highs were like 19°C, and with all the rain the water is cold.

I've been to Sleeping Giant before and we are trying to plan a group trip there next year. No time on this Easterly trip.

Mekanix I think it was 243? The first one after the playground. It's not a great site.
Our friends were in 298 and 256 maybe, so we were all spread out but we spent most of the time in 256 I think it was. Quite sheltered from the wind and there is water access.

Here is a like nearby rushing river, very scenic area with lots of good camping.

We were there at site 60 right on the beach this time around. with it being "brisk" and still June it wasn't bad. We will be back there for a week from September long in site 112 which is one of my favorites for water access with the canoe
