The Georgia Bantam build

Very nice. When you get the fenders mounted shoot a picture with it behind the FJ.

You know I will. I decided to get mobile prior to skinning the top so the fab shop could see the whole picture, not just the lid its self. I'll fit the axle and the max coupler next, then the lid.

the FJ has street tires on it for now. The trailer will use these Pirelli scorpion ATs. They are 265/70/17

Nice! I have a 47 or 48 T3-C that is mostly stock except for the hitch (I use a Max Coupler). I am the second owner of my trailer, it was in the same family until about 10 years ago. I was going to build a lid for mine but I mostly use the trailer to carry a Hobie Pro Angler kayak so a lid would not work too well for this.
Are you using the stock suspension?
What are you going to use for a hitch?
If your Bantam came with the military wheels they are worth selling to the early military Jeep crowd, they can bring serious money if in good shape.

yes, it's the stock suspension and I'll be using a max coupler type hitch.

Nice kayak too. Mine will ride on the trailer too maybe.

That's my son on the Etowah river.

The axle is on the way. I've got the new 12x1.5 studs and the FJ lugs ready to go on upon arrival. Big changes coming soon. Next will be the top skin and RTT.

johnspark,
Great build! I am enjoying it immensely, especially how you completely disregarded the advice of the Bantam trailer guy on how rare your trailer is. Good for you! It's not all about money and how much you can make. Build what you want out of it. I'm sure there are plenty of these that have been restored.

This build is excellent I am definitely a fan of dream it and build it. The only thing limiting me at the moment is the funds for building what I'm dreaming. Can't wait to see it with the top and being pulled behind the FJC.

The axle actually shipped today, so I ordered the lock and roll hitch. I'm really getting excited now.

Thanks for the comments everyone. My goal is to have this thing on the road for our first trip by May. Still lots of work to do!

So the axle and LR hitch came in and I got it all put together finally. It pulls like a champ. I'll post up some picks later.

Here it is.

I took the roof skeleton to the sheet metal shop yesterday. It should be ready for pickup on Wednesday of next week. The Tepui Kukenam tent will be here on Tuesday according to FedEx Tracking. I still have to mount the tongue box, set the roof, build the roof rack, and set the tent. Once that is complete, we will be heading out to Florida for a week of camping along the coast. After that I'll have a good idea of what modifications to do next. I want to keep it simple, so we're going to do a lot of design concept scenarios while out there.

Looks great and is color matched to both your trucks!

Watch out for the narrow fenders and the trailer tires throwing stones...don't want to find out the hard way with a broken FJC rear window! I've seen other Bantam T3-C guys use CJ-7 rear fender flares to gain extra fender width without resorting to new fenders.
