The Georgia Bantam build

Careful backing up with the LnR hitch. Once the trailer is 90* to the truck, stop or you will bend it. Don't ask how I know...

I grew up with "If you build it, they will come." Now, it's "if you order it, now you have to build it."

Making parts fit, it's what we do!

BTW: The tent is here, and the top is ready tomorrow...

Very nice buildup!

But why buying new fenders if the relocation of the fenders can be done easily and in less than an hour? You just need some perforated metal plates and a second set of bolts and screws.

Even relocated the fenders are still very strong, if necessary I can step on them without any problems!

Btw.: I added oval holes to the plates, so if necessary I can slide the fenders in and out just loosening the bolts.

That's a great idea! Thanks for the tip.

tongue extention

Love the trailer, Love the build, but you went past the tongue and hitch without giving us the details. I have a few questions. (1) How long is the tongue, from the box to the end. (2) Which Lock-N-Roll hitch did you use? (looks like the extendable one). (3) Which hitch did you use on the vehicle side? (4) Is there any clanking between the slide-in tongue and the reciever tube, of the trailer? Sorry for so many questions, but I'm at this portion of my build, and am thinking I will go the same way. Thanks

Hey Scram,

Thanks for the comments. The tongue is 53" from the tub to the receiver end. The LR Hitch trailer side is a model 520 and the vehicle side is a 501. LR trailer hitches do have a little rattle inside the receiver. I used the eye bolts to stabilize the hitch and corral the safety cables on the trailer tongue. The vehicle side is pretty quiet so far. The 501's insert begins to swell about 1.5 inches back from the block where the grease fitting is installed. This fits very snug in the receiver.

Thanks for info. Tha helps alot. Your measurements are within 2" of being the same as what my plans were. Guess that length will work well then. Thanks again.

I was checking the tent for fit and finish after shipping. I think all is well. The orientation will be 180' from current position. Now I'll have to find or build a roof rack.

Does the longer tongue make for an easier time backing the trailer up? My Bantam has a slightly longer tongue than stock and is a royal PIA to back up with it being such a short overall length trailer, If I have to back down a long ramp I really have to be careful I don't jack knife. Great build, looks really nice!

Looks great! As others have stated extend the fenders to cover the tires.
They will throw crap everywhere.
I'm working on it. The funds for new items are getting low though. I just dropped some bills on Yakima products for the FJ and trailer. This first outing will be a road tour mostly. I will get something done on the fenders soon though.

Really great job on the build!
Thanks very much.

Yes it makes it somewhat easier. The biggest problem is, I can't see it without the tent on it.
