The Jolly Green Giant...aka the Recycled Rig

I hope this works out for you J, sounds much better than buying a short block for the interim and taking a long time to rebuild the original motor. If possible, do it once and do it right. I’m thinking ‘happy thoughts’ and listening to Jazz ☺

Well, it went well. Pulling the motor. Oversized pistons and maybe, just maybe if we are lucky, all you'll have to drive to see Robbie is to south Reno. depending on how it goes, he may be coming down to do the re-assembly, install and get it running correctly. :victory: We have to wait and see and he's tied up until May.

I'll tell you one thing, I stopped listening to "Angry" music and started listening to more mellow stuff. Marley, The Dead and the such. A couple times, while listening to "Angry" music, wrenches were close to being thrown.

Going to the machine shop tomorrow.

You've got tenacity...I'll give you that :jump: I'd be a nut case...and it would take more than a puff on the Marley pipe to cheer me up. Congrats on digging in and getting it solved!

The engine is blown? Then it's totaled.

Cool, let me know when the re-assembly begins.

I hear you on the angry music, when working on something like that, you gotta go mellow or bad things can happen.

Good luck.

I tried to change the name of this thread to "TOJO'S REVENGE" but I can't.

Funny, that if it were sheet metal, I'd consider it totaled, but since it's mechanical I'm viewing it in a different light.

Gifts from Japan!!!

I returned home from work today to find a great box full of love on my doorstep.

These will complete the installation of my Long Ranger Aux. Fuel tank.

When we start crossing the states again now I will be the one with the fuel light ‘on’ and you will be able to go twice as far!

Only because the size of the tank. :Wow1: You still have the mileage benefit by a lot. I've never owned a car that the gas light has came on so much before. And contrary to popular belief, there are not a lot of gas stations in NV.

I had a day to work on her some more and it was a successful day! It's about time. Block is off to the machine shop tomorrow to be massaged, if you know what I mean. Now he will have the head and the block.

You'll know if this doesn't go back together right, because she'll have a small block chevy in there! I'm going back to jeeps.

It's funny when I'm looking at your engine bay saying to myself...I wonder if that brake booster would fit the troopy.....:coffeedrink:

Don't give up on Cruisers just yet....I really think when you're done, it'll have been worth the time and effort.

These motors, IMHO, were never built from the factory to support a supercharger; hence why folks have experienced overheating problems, etc. and the dreaded blown head gasket. Just look at CDan's and Photoman's on Mud...methanol injection; dual snorkles etc....just too "balanced on a pin head" as Dan so eloquently puts it...

You're doing it right!

I was joking about the jeep comment. I do think its ironic that I sold the unlimited for a more "reliable, family oriented ride" and I was able to drive it for two weeks before this fiasco.

My HJ45 has a big brake booster, doesn't yours? What my HJ needs is disks. I'll make you a deal, if this never gets back together you can have the booster!!:friday:

p.s., did you see my response to the diesel troopy for sale? We need go to Oz together and bring them back.
