The dodge V10 fan clutch and the powerstroke fan showed up yesterday, tomorrow i get to tear into it and replace them.

You can see there are several mounting hole options and they line up perfectly.

This is cheaper and really more reliable, this setup will probably outlast my ownership of the truck.

warrpath4x4,

Yeah, definitely cheaper, I think it ran me $125 for dual fans w/shroud and another $120 for a standalone fan controller. With a diesel it's probably not a significant power difference as it is with a gasser.

So here is the offender removed, Stupid design.

You can see here that the powerstroke fan is a little bit smaller than the stock dodge one

here it is installed

and this worked soooo much better than the parts store fan clutch removal tools (this and a 36MM wrench)

after installing it, we are certain that the fan clutch was never engaged the whole time we have owned it. it used to run at 200 and now it runs 1/8" before 200 on the gauge.

Ordered a 270 degree awning yesterday afternoon to replace the small CVT one on the back, Tracking says its gonna be here Friday. Saturday were gonna go pick up some metal so i can build a better rack than this one that i have had to modify a couple times.

pulled the rack and tent yesterday and installed the 75 gallon auxiliary tank in the bed. I had already planned on building a new rack but now I have to, the pump would have been rubbing the old rack.

Saturday we go to my parents place in Oregon, then drive to Milton Freewater and pic up a jeep top, drive back to Hermiston and everything is fine. We go to leave Saturday night and the alternator is only charging at about 10 volts. So Sunday I changed it out, was easy to do, even easier after pulling the air filter housing, but man they don't give those alternators away.

Wednesday/Thursday put new injectors into the truck, needed them since they were the originals and had 250,000+ miles on them. Friday night one of the u-joints I replaced the other year goes out and takes the carrier bearing out too.

Gotta do the little (and big) things since rodeo season is upon us again.

Might want to check the resistance in your lead that ties the two batteries together (across the top of the shroud), these trucks read charging/output voltage at the drivers side battery but the output from the alternator feeds into the passenger side one, so if the truck sees low output voltage it will adjust the charging voltage to the whole system. I had this happen and it blew up my passenger side battery from overcharging due to a false final reading created by high resistance in that wire.

This has been one hell of a week, starting Sunday I changed the oil, changed the trans filter (pan gasket was leaking) and changed out a torque converter cooler hose (also leaking). Monday on my way to work, the wife calls "im stuck in town and the truck wont move" *expletive*. I turn around and head back to town, pulling up behind the truck there is a trail of trans fluid, tow the truck home, crawl under it, one of the fitting on the torque converter cooler broke off. I must have cracked it when I was putting the new hose on. Order one on amazon, shows up late Tuesday. I spent almost all of yesterday just getting the damn cooler removed because there is a stud and 2 nuts on the rear side of the cooler bracket that you can only turn 1/8 of a turn each time. Did I also mention im working outside and its 106 degrees?

So tonight after work i get to finish putting it back together in our wonderful weather that's supposed to be 110+ today.
