I'm quite surprised that you don't have a fuel breather line, along with differential, transmission and transfer case breather lines for wading issues.

* yet. ?. There is a very very long list for this slow build!! (But from the factory, no, nothing like that fitted just straight vents.

I have breathers on all my fuel and water tanks too, but they are all fitted with taps that can be turned off in the event that the vehicle falls over, so they don't just leak out onto the ground.

Next I installed a battery cut off switch - more for a storage cut off, but will also somewhat function as anti theft…

Ideas on holding down the deck boards. I’d be interested in any feedback - I still have not completed this!!!


Am I crazy to think that this might hold it together?

Glue, maybe Sikaflex 252 plus appropriate pre treatment.
All done in a fraction of the time.

I would rather bed them in a polyurethane adhesive like Sika or Simpsons. Primarily because it will prevent rubbing between the two surfaces or rattling later on but also it will be so much easier.
If you think it needs more bonding surface contact you could cut some flat bar and fit like your rod but glue in.

There are so many spectacular adhesives available these days.

I am currently building an expedition truck and will glue polyurethane blocks directly to the steel chassis and then glue the aluminium supports to the polyurethane with Plexus MA310. The aluminuim supports will be glued to the box with Sikaflex.

Thanks folks! I do like the idea of an adhesive as it will stop any rattle of the boards - my only concern is if I ever need to remove boards the adhesive is much harder to undo than a mechanical method. (it’s much easier to access stuff in the center of the chassis by lifting a few boards off!). I suppose I could use a different method on the center boards.
