Come monday, it's time to DO WORK! I got a long way to go and a short time to get there.....

I ran into an old buddy from high school this week.... He was the "weirdo" that wore combat boots and a mohawk, and had a bullring in his nose. I like uniqueness, and I hate stereotypes, so I always got along with those kind of people. Anyway, turns out he's a hell of a fabricator nowadays. He builds choppers, does ornamental iron, and basically anything else involving metal, he does...

Long story short, he needs some marketing to get his name out. Well, that's what I do for a living... We are going to try to work out a deal where he does some tubing work for me (cage, bumpers/sliders) and I'll create some video(s) for his website. He lives a couple hours from me, in Nashville, so we can't do anything until the Lunchbox is up and running and I can take it to him.

I'll spend a weekend or two shooting video, and another couple weeks worth of editing in my spare time. In return, he'll bend-up some bumpers/sliders/and a cage for the Lunchbox. We both get what we need, and save a few thousand dollars in the process . I LOVE the barter system! Hopefully we can get together on this and make it happen next month....

I started hauling parts out to the shop today... I got the tranny, transfer-case, springs, mounts, u-bolts all sitting there now. Hopefully I can get the tranny and motor mated up, and get them up inside the van on thursday when I get back out there... I also cannibalized the motorhome again, for the gas tank. The tiny little stock gas tank just wasn't going to cut it. I don't know how much bigger this one is, but it looks almost double the size. I was worried it may not fit, but it will or I'll MAKE it fit.

stock tank..

These 3 little parts are going to cause me to buy a new set of locking hubs for my front 60.... When I pulled these ones apart last month, I realized they were missing some parts. I thought I'd just go to the parts store or find them online, boy was I wrong! NOBODY has ****, and NOBODY can even order anything for me, even Fastenal can't do anything. I can only find a kit online for $25, but it comes with bolts and ONLY the outer snap ring. I'm not spending a ton of money on these, I'll just buy a new set and sell these to somebody else.

So does anybody know where I can find all the snap rings and that plastic bushing for a set of WARN 11690 hubs?

Otherwise I'm going to order up some new hubs. I like the price and warranty on the G2 and milemarker hubs $150(ish), but if it's a pain in the butt to warranty them, I don't want them. I can get WARN Premium hubs for $226 shipped, and get those warranteed out almost anywhere. Which hubs do you guys have good luck with?

I just threw out a set of those! If I knew they'd be useful to someone I would have kept them... Sorry!

I went with the mile marker hubs but in hindsight I'd like to have tried the G2's. I didn't find much online about them but at the price that they are, it's almost worth it to carry a second set as trail spares. Then if they DO break, you can easily swap em out and return the broken ones on warranty when you're back. No downtime at all.

I can't find one single review ANYWHERE on the G2's..... They look like a good deal, and I'd like to give them a try, but I'm leery because I can't find anybody else that's bought them. I REALLY want the yukon extreme's, but $400 is more than I would like to spend on hubs right now. Especially when I still have a rear locker and high steer to buy in the next 4 weeks. So the WARN premiums are the front-runner right now. The price is right ($228 shipped), people really have good luck with them, and the warranty is awesome.

Agreed. But someone's gotta be the first to try em and review em! :)

And warranty only works when you get home off the trail. You'll still need a backup to get you home... If you're way out in the boonies, warranty means nothing.

If you buy the G2's, just get 2 sets. Break one? Swap in the other set to get you home. Mail out the first set back to G2. No down time once you're home, no wasted holiday time spent towing to a garage and dealing with Warn in the phone... Just 30 min trail-side to swap em out and 5 min when you're home to find a box and a post office.

I called summit, and they have them, but don't move them. The guy I spoke to thought it was just because they are such a new product. He said all of their other stuff has great reviews. I'm going to call the company tomorrow and speak to them, see how the warranty works. I'd like to give them a try....

Nice! I'm interested to hear how their warranty policy stacks up against the Warns. If it's an OK policy, I can imagine they'll become a popular item.

Some guy on pirate just bought a pair and posted pics, and they look pretty flimsy. Those guys are saying they are just SUPERWINCH hubs re-badged. Another guy chimed in and said he had an awful time trying to get them (G2) to warranty parts, so he quit carrying their stuff. So it's not looking good....

Well, I ended up ordering the WARN premium hubs.... I wanted the yukons, but it's hard to justify the money for those right now, I still have soooo much more stuff to buy. I also got that little 2" adapter for my 700R4/np205 combo. Summit racing gets ANOTHER $330 from me.... ugh....it's only money right?! :Wow1:

They don't put pockets in coffins.....

You know what's REALLY funny? I cancelled the order this morning, and upgraded to the Yukon Hardcore Locking Hubs instead....Bahahahahahaha

I know better than to try and cheap out, my conscience just won't allow it :wings:

Haha nice. Good choice

If I do it right the first time around, hopefully we won't have to do this again... lol

I've learned that things will fail at the most inopportune time. Like in the middle of a torrential downpour, at night, 100 miles from NOWHERE....
