Awesome....signed up for the ride.

I have a 1983 G3500 B+ with a 6.2L Diesel. Getting a NV4500 with transfercase and I thank you for the photos of the pedal assembly as I need a clutch pedal.

I just bought a 1994 G3500 6.5L diesel rescue truck of the with 70,000km that has been sitting in a field for 5 years for parts and a new shed....

Good luck with the build. Keep photos coming!

I originally wanted a turbo-diesel for mine, but decided on the TBI 350 when I realized how much a diesel engine was going to cost me. Are you going to use the clutch pedal from the truck? You'll probably have to move the battery, as it sits right where the master cylinder will need to go. What front axle are you going to use?

I just bought a 1994 G3500 6.5L Fire Rescue truck for parts 70000km on it "frame" rusted out

I would love to find a factory pedal but kind of the unicorn in the van world... I might take my spare brake pedal and fab off that Truck pedal is pretty different but I have the whole assembly from the pickup battery and fuse box could be in a better place... I have room for the start battery in the house bank area if I need room... but hope to fit the little master cylinder in there if I can...

No turbo on the pre 1996 van from the factory

Front axle is down the road after the transmission swap... low range with duallys will go most places the 10000lbs needs to go... My old DT125 on the back bumper will work after that

Last friday I got the motorhome ALMOST completely gutted. I took off the doors, steering box, cut out a small section of floor to fix a rust issue in mine, pulled the th400 off my engine, and that's about as far as I got until it started downpouring.... The only thing left is the gas tank, tail pipes, and radiator mounts

I'll only cut out the rust, try to keep the patch small.

Then today, I made a trip over to the steel yard to get some material for my engine crossmember. I picked up some 1/4" plate and 2x3x1/4 tubing.

By the time I got all my running around done and made it back to the shop, I only got the 4 plates cut for the frame-side of the crossmember, before I had to pick up my son from the babysitter.

Just to give you guys an idea of what this guy usually builds, I snapped a few pics of his current project in the garage. It's a 74 International cab, soon to be sitting on a U-haul chassis, with a Ford Turbo Diesel from a school-bus, and a dovetail bed. Dude likes his rat rods, so he's always building old stuff. I can't argue with the guy, I love old stuff too!

It's rained every day since last friday... ugh I was able to crawl under the van earlier in the week (rain couldn't get me underneath the van.. lol) and take some measurements for my crossmember. Then I started cutting up and punching holes in the 1/4" plate for the frame side of the crossmember, and the motormount plates. Then I cut up the 2x3 into useable pieces. I'll use the 2x2 for the pedestal to mount the motormount plate.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, but then rain for the next 4-5 days again, so we're going to play hookie and go ride scooters. He hasn't quite grasped riding his bike without training wheels yet (he's going on 4 years-old), so the scooters give us something to do together. He thinks it's the coolest thing ever that we get to ride together on something. I'll start fresh on monday... At last I have the motor in the shop on a stand now. Hopefully I can clear a spot on monday, pull the van in the shop, and start putting **** together!
