Anyone in Auzland with proper specs on these rims?

So I had a set of specs for a SRW... decided to check it out and to my suprise... Dont think its the same. Maybe the measurments were from a bigger version of the truck....

Anyone with a SRW connection that has done a SRW on an older Canter and may have spec for the build?
Thanks
Jeff

Trust me, you did NOT want to have anything to do with USA 6X6. Daniel is a thief, a crook and a liar...and I do not say those things lightly about anyone.

Consider yourself lucky that they went belly-up before you spent any more time with them, let alone any of your hard earned cash.

Unfortunately I do not have any leads for you, just some words of congratulations on the purchase of a FABULOUS truck. I am envious.

Yes, I am letting mastercard fight for my money back......
fun times, thanks for the words. I think i have a lead with Stockton Wheel on getting a new set made. Might upgrade to a 18 or 20" single rim setup instead of the 16"
Thanks

Hi Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Did you got my last email with the pic of the 19.5" rims we use now? I had a look at Stockton Wheels website. They sound like they're pretty switched on. The "Power Wagon" wheels look very similiar (as best as I could see anyway). Surely you can just give them your axle widths and they can tell you how close they can go to providing the right offsets.

My boss (and our wheel makers) wouldn't be too happy with me if I started giving specifics away. Sorry. However, advice is free in bucket loads and I can't stress enough that they have to be as heavy duty as possible for a SRW especially if you intend to run close to max GVM. Normal 4wd and pickup stuff wouldn't even be close.

Your truck looks cool. Did you pick it up on an online auction in Japan and do your own importing? Tons of 15 year old import buses have coming into Aus for the last few years being converted into motorhomes. Did you know Fuso used to do one in Japan? 4WD Rosa. Like a FG but a bus. Pretty rare and would be OK for light duty offroad only I think. There is only a couple here.

Thank you,

Thanks for the email. I see the larger rims.. I think the Stockton wheels will be heavy-duty enough.. I gave them the specs on my truck, and told them it was a 2 ton and the load rating for the back end. Looks like they make those rims for Unimogs, so should be fine for my truck!
Those Rosa's look great... wonder what years they made em? can only import 15 year old plus vehicles from Japan to Canada at the moment!

15year rule doesn't apply to buses unfortunately, it would have to be manufactured prior to 1971 to be importable to Canada. :(

Stockton Wheel has been around a very long time. They may not be the least expensive, but everything I've ever heard about them has been good.

Personally I would avoid any of the solid plate centered type wheels if at all possible. You already have a lot of unsprung weight, adding those will make it that much worse.

solid plate

Sure the solid plate wheels will be heavier and the bigger tyres will add a fair bit more again but don't forget Jeff's going to SRW so you're doing away with the weight of 2 original wheels. The crew cabs are pretty heavy on the front axle too so the extra unsprung weight isn't really noticeable up there. A heavy duty shock upgrade is always good idea anyway to help with unsprung weight. When the offsets are as great as they need to be, its the centres and the studs that cop the puishment. Have seen plenty of failures over the years when the vehicles are really loaded up and the centres are not heavy enough.

How much are the wheels going to be each Jeff?

Not sure about the years for 4WD Rosa's. A 15 year law normally applies here so I guess they must be at least that. Quite a few ended up being imported to New Zealand in the last couple of years for use on snow covered roads, etc. They're really light duty and probably wouldn't last to long on the beach here (like in the pic) but I suppose they would be a cheap option for a motorhome base. Much the same running gear as your FG.

So my old rig - an imported quad cab Canter.. went to a new owner last year.
