Great photos everyone, this show always amazes me.

It also makes me realize how far behind we are in the custom camper choices here in the states.

Ditto,

Thanks a lot all, this has been wonderful! It always amazes me just how much I learn from seeing photos like these.

The one gray truck, with the camel and the nomad leading it, wow what a paint job!

Any thoughts, Christian, on how he attached his BMW F650GS to that truck? I could not see the mount, but in the current set up it sure looked low.

Thanks again!

Shelter

That shelter in the back of the Landrover is an S-250, likely US surplus from a base in Germanny. You see them often on the Government Liquidation site in the US - there are a bunch being fitted out just down the flightline from us in McClellan CA... Can sometimes also find on Steelsoldiers.com

Anybody have any information about the shelter that is off the back of this FWC?

It was photographed at the Abenteuer and AllRad show in Germany.

Any info or leads would be helpful. Thanks.

The way the F650GS was attatched to that was with a normal motorcycle hitch hauler, I believe he just used a ramp.

However there were similar vehicles that had small winches or hand cranks for lifting motorcycles higher on the back of vehicles.

Also looking for some info on brackets for side mounted sand ladders. I have copied a couple photos below of examples. I can see the aircraft tie down rails, but what is the bracket between the rails that the ladders are mounted to?

Thanks for any info.

It appears to be a simple awning with a room attachment. You can purchase them from nearly any RTT/Awning manufacturer. Or if you prefer you can always fab up your own, I have seen several that look very nice.

Hey Matt, thanks for the info on the 650gs mount. It sure looked like they went out of their way to make a good ground clearance vehicle and then put that thing on there so as to destroy any hope... ;) Ah such is life.

There are several other versions as well, S280, LMS etc. these shelters are tough, empty weight is between 500-800 lbs depending on the type. Construction is double wall aluminum skin with two types of core, some have a foam core and vertical beams others are honeycomb core either paper or honeycomb.
If you pick one up and need some help with tech questions let me know....I oversee building these for a living
cheers
