The perfect Jeep expedition vehicle???

Not bad.

The town I grew up in had 4 of the very rare Postal Scramblers. They looked exactly like that vehicle, but with panel sides, isntead of windows.
That would be very cool. This is sort of like a Jeep version of a troopie, the rear door swings to the side, stout looking permanent top. With panel sides, it would make a great base to build on.

That's hot, what's the story behind this? Was this some rare factory option?
The speedometer is in KM/Hr, so it's got to be a non-US model. The eBay listing says it's Canadian anyway. There is no roll bar inside, so I assume it's supposed to have the top on all the time. Hard to tell, but also does not seem to have 3 point seat belts, so I dunno what that means. But in 1980 I would have thought most anything sold in the US and Canada would have shoulder belts. Curious, it would be neat to know the story. I wonder if it's not a military vehicle or something at least originally designed for something at least governmental.

The "world cab" is an international model. They were never sold in that configuration in the states. The closest were the 1984 Alaskan Postal Scramblers. I forget how many were made, but only 100 or so if I remember correctly. The seatbelts are factory. 3 point harnesses didn't come out in the CJs until 82 or 83. Mine is an 84 and has the factory 3 point harnesses (or did). I wonder what it would take to swap one of those tops onto my 8... hmm.... :)

Cool info. I wonder what will go for on ebay. That takes the things I liked about my old CJ5 and adds to them with the extra interior space which was the hardest thing for me to deal with, oh, and the lack of a hard top. Good stuff

really cool setup....

I'm going to give my Liberty a whirl for "Expedition" travel over time, got a trip to Moab planned and scheduled here in a few weeks, so we'll see how it does.

I'm starting to plan a trip to Baja Cali for 2009 or 2010. It will be for 2-4 people for sure. This trip to Moab will be a big test since there will be a definite 3 maybe 4 people in the Jeep for about a weeks long camping/traveling trip.

Time will tell what the durability of it will be and I for one hope it holds up well. I already know what I need to add in the future once funds get better, but based on the stuff I have now I'll see where improvements need to be made. I also hope to find things that don't need to be taken too so as to help with the packing for the trip.

Thats about 45 minutes from me. if someone really wants it let me know I'll go take a look at it for you.

Hmmm.... I think the wife would kill me if I had 2 Scramblers in the garage... especially since it would displace her car into the driveway! :gunt:

FYI... There is one of the Alaskan Postal CJ8's in Pinetop-Lakeside, AZ. I see it setting at the Blue Ridge School quite offten.
