The Road Chose Me : 50,000kms of ebb and flow

Hey everyone,

I'm new here and just heard about this site.
I thought some of you might be interested in my latest adventure that is well underway:
I'm in my 2000 Jeep TJ driving 50,000kms on The Pan American Highway from The Arctic Ocean in Northern Alaska to Terra Del Fuego, the southern-most point of South America.

I'm in Fiarbanks, Alaska right now having just got back from the arctic ocean.

You can join in my trip on my website - http://www.dangrec.com which I'll be updating regularly with trip reports and photos.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the words of encouragement :)

I just got back from an epic hike near Denali - but I havn't typed up a blog post about it yet.. It'll be online sooner or later.

Anyone have any recommendations while I'm going along? I really have no plans of anything to see/do, I'm just taking advice from locals, etc.

Welcome, Dan! I look forward to following your trip.
Please keep us updated!

Here's a link to Dan's blog page that describes his preparations
for the trip. It's refreshingly brief. http://dangrec.com/?p=319

I think too many people approach adventure travel like its a
Space Shuttle mission. There's much to be said for just going
down the driveway and leaving. Taking this approach means
encountering some "manageable trouble," borrowing Joaquin
Suave's turn of phrase, but problems just are opportunities
to make new friends.

The drive up the Dalton Highway was amazing!
Would you believe me if I said camping by the Arctic Ocean is kind of cold?
