Yes, a hashtag, or pound-sign.

The Rogue Wagon started life as a 1997 Subaru Legacy Outback, two-tone, with 220k miles on the clock and more rust-related problem than I knew what to do with.

Then it........got paralyzed by ice-related problems a few weeks ago at 312k miles, matte green, and a ****-ton of new parts.

It took me to a loooooooooot of places.

(not-the-deepest sand near White Pocket)

I never REALLY found the limits of its capability even with differentials so worn out they were wide-open and limited ground clearance (**** it, it's a tank; use the frame as sliders)

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT neglect and winter did unspeakable things to the engine so now it doesn't run for a while. (I plan to sell it to my BF's oldest son for his first car)

NEW SUBARU. NEW WAGON.

2006 Forester w/ 127k miles.

So far I have notice that it has TORQUE like a ******** and it has oodles of grip even with the shoddy tires in this photo. So I got new tires.
It also has amaaaazingly tight corners.

Now it just needs:
-PAINT!!!!
-Timing belt
-head gaskets
-front right strut
-clutch
-brakes
-more paint

These things will come soon, and photo will be taken.

Considering I have MORE ground clearance than the old RogueWagon, I will not be lifting this. I don't see the point; ground clearance was never an Issue in the Legacy so lifting something with more clearance, more power, and less differential slip just seems.....stupid, quite frankly. This is my DD and I want it to be nimble on the highway and curvy mountain roads and maintain good fuel economy.
I DO need to investigate my induction system to see if a snorkel would be good because the Legacy was designed such that I could drive through a bit of water up to my windshield without issues. I need to make sure this newer version of the EJ25 is up to par.

It's not "Expo" but it WILL be used to explore everything and it will be thrashed off-road to embarrass people in Jeeps and that's cool if it isn't your thing because I wanted a thread of my own for it. More to come!

This will be interesting! I like the "paint, more paint" ethos!

These really are remarkable vehicles, aren't they? Don't forget to throw some breather tubes on the differentials and transmission that terminate higher if you are gonna be fording streams etc. Mine terminate at the top of the front strut tower.

Nice! I'm trying to convince a buddy of mine to get a Forester just like that. Is it an XT?

Just the base model X. I wanted torque at 1k RPM

Interesting. Have you ever had an issue with that? In the previous wagon I never really ran into problems. I'm SURE there was water in my diffs and tranny but nothing failed.

I have with my Jeeps. Even breathers aren't enough to 100% keep water out of your diffs though, it will get in past the seals. If you do a lot of water crossings, make sure to change your fluids regularly. Differentials, transfer case, transmission, anything that you submerge.
