July '13 Update

Hey all,

Here is the latest action on the trailer!

Offset spacers have arrived. 5 x 4.5 x 1 1/4" offset.

The Test Fit.

...and here we go!

Back bearing packed...

Here is the change in ride stance with the offset...

before...

after...

I will continue to post progress as it happens.

A quick Galley

Hey,

Just spit-ballin' for an upcoming trip. This will be a sheet of 3/4" ply that will be painted against the elements. It will end up sitting against the side of the trailer so as not to interfere with packing. I have cut around the rope hooks and I will end up drilling a couple of holes so that I can bolt it to the fender. It feels very secure without any fasteners and it sits @ 36" off of the ground just like the kitchen counter. We will see how it goes.

Galley update!

Hey All,

Here are a couple of Pics of the Galley from camping last weekend. The board stood up beautifully but needs to be painted to protect against the elements. It is held in place with nothing other than friction & the angles on the side of the trailer. Very secure.
The next upgrade is to get the Coleman Fuel Distribution Tree & two hoses (Canadian Tire had the Coleman Propane Lantern on sale last week...picked it up) & figure out where the best location is to put it to fuel & light the galley.

More updates as they happen.

Painting the countertop!

Hey,

Pretty self explanatory.

Primer

Paint

Put a bit of aluminum angle iron on to give the front edge some stiffness & support.

Nice! You're definitely going faster than my build. What did you pay for that barbour canvas wax and how much can it cover?

So I'm trying to wrap my head around this (I didn't get a lot of sleep, so bare with me). The weight is on the fender, while the tie downs/angle of the bed prevent it from moving?

The Barbour Canvas Wax cost about $12-$15 per tin. I bought 4 tins. I also picked up an hors d'oeuvres warmer at a local Goodwill Thrift shop. The warmer gets & keeps the wax hot & liquid. For applicaption I just brushed it on with a disposable bristle brush. As I was brushing it on i made sure to watch that the wax was being absorbed by the canvas. I have not done a reapplication this year and it is still keeping the water out. I'm pretty happy.
