Thanks for the pics and the organization ideas. Always fun to read your posts.

You mentioned that you have been to 44 states? Which ones haven't you been to yet (Hawaii? +?)?

Thanks Keyne!

I have not been to Alaska or Hawaii, Louisiana and Mississippi, and Maine and Vermont.

The northeast corner really bugs me as I lived in New Jersey for a while but did not travel up into the northeast corner of the country. At that point I was focused on the southern Appalachians. Humph. Now I really wish that I had explored that area while I was close.

I have been only using the interior lights on red after sunset. This has allowed my eyes to adjust and it is really fun to have good night vision.

Two weeks in and I have run some totals.

2964 miles
$539 in gas
16.75 mpg average

$15 overnight costs (that one kinda pissed me off, more of a bribe for overnight parking.)
From here I think I will be consistently paying for camping for a while, as the places I am going do not lend themselves to stealth or backcountry camping. (Waaaa, but I like parking for free, waaaa)

That's impressive mpg.

I so wish I could get 20mpg, hell while I am dreaming let's say 28. It will be interesting to see what the new engines in the Tacoma get, as they are a 3.5L V6 that is both port and direct injected and has Atkinson cycle.

Although I have read in a few places that direct injected engines are bad for the environment, worse than a diesel.

Parked next to a RAM Promaster that was nicely built in the interior. It was from Florida, anybody from here?

If I did not need 4x4 it would be a good way to go.

I'm renting a Promaster conversion (Winnebago Travato) tomorrow night so I can check out the chassis. Sprinters have lots of good points, but the Promasters are significantly cheaper, and the 285 hp Pentastar gas engine is in about a zillion minivans and other Chrysler products and thus should be easy to get serviced.
