Hello all, I am building up my Forester to prepare for a cross country trip, and also just to go wheeling.
About me:
I am in college right now, going for English to be a Highschool teacher. After starting to work full time and going to school part time, I have been realizing that a lot of life cliches are moderately true. So after talking to some older people who I respect the opinions of, I've decided that I am going to go forth in putting this plan into action. So the plan is quite simple really, I shall save up around 6-10 grand and embark in the spring whatever year it happens to be. I am shooting for 2017. But no matter where I am, if I use up half of my funds, I will begin the trek back.
My philosophy about justifying the cost:
Some may think that ten grand can be spend in far better ways, and some argue assertively so. But the way i see it, we spend the better portion of our lives working to make money. So we use the money to live comfortably, and a lot of the times, the rest goes to unnecessary objects (like the things I buy for this car). But we are reminded time and time again that money doesn't buy happiness, and as much as we try to argue different, the commute to work and back can make you think otherwise. So if money can't buy happiness, then what can it buy? If we look at money not as a unit for buying goods, but as time of our lives, then would you trade a year of your life for a supercar? How about 5 years of your life for a fancy house? I wouldn't. So what is our money buying in terms of a trip? It's buying your well being throughout a trip that one may embark on for simply the reason of seeing the world, and making memories, in other words, it's time of our lives buying time for living.
Ultimately I am not meaning to bash anyone who would prefer to buy a tv versus buy a trip to someplace, but I am saying that for people who are passionate not just about something within their lives, but passionate in living itself, then it only makes sense. I understand it's not possible for a lot of people due to family and circumstance, which is precisely another reason for justifying this; I am young, only renting a house, have no kids, and nothing financially or morally binding me here. So when an opportunity presents itself...

And in progress, major wheel travel!
To wrap this up, one of the ways I plan to fund the trip will be buy selling tee shirts of my design. The first bulk order has been placed and the website will be up in a week or two at: thewanderingfoz.com
Thank you all for looking, and i don't want to plug my products on here, but I will post when the site is up. So if you like Subies, stick around.
