Glad to hear the trip went well, snow or not. I'm intrigued with you using your rear bumper as an air pig/tank.
I was thinking of just plumbing a quick connect into the rear bumper for plug in air. ...ya got me thinking again...

5th, I'll post pics when I get around to plumbing in the air compressor. I'm just going to use those push connect fittings with plastic lines. I'll drill a hole in the spare tire well, install a bulkhead fitting and run two sections of tubing. Pump to bulkhead connector, bulkhead connector to tank. The plastic line is rated for 300psi so it can definitely handle the air load. I'll install a new one way check valve in the bumper too on the air feed connection. The guy who originally built this bumper was thinking ahead as the air chuck has a small cage around it to protect the chuck from being knocked off. Looking forward to trying it out for airing up and down for trails.

I though I was going to have to air down for this road in spots, but even on the hardest part of the trail I never lost traction. These 10 plys did an awesome job and the tread never clogged.

Right on, yeah that's how I had it pictured also.

I saw a pic on another forum awhile ago. Guy went from the compressor through the bulkhead fitting into a tank located beside the fuel tank and under the spare tire well, along the frame. (I'll guess a 3 gallon tank). He ran a short length of hose from the tank to the bumper so he could pull the chuck out a few inches, then recess it flush into the bumper again.

Good to see the bumpers PO had his head right. Hell, I'ma big fan of your front bumper also.

Started painting parts for the 500 Cadillac. I know this has been a slow process for ya'll, but I'm stupid busy most of the time with other projects and responsibilities. Would be nice to have 100% of my time to finish this build, it would only take a week tops.

Anywho, I'm painting the engine Detroit Diesel Green for a couple of reasons. 1) it will mess with people's minds when I open the hood and they try to figure out what engine it is aside from a V8 and 2) this green is awesome for tracking down oil leaks. Detroits are notorious for leaking oil due to the crank case being pressurized by the scavenging blower. I always called them "Drip-troits" when I was a diesel mechanic.

I'll spray the short block with color after the refresh is done. I may have to only throw some new bearings on the crank, rods and cam and be done with it as there is little to no ridge on the cylinder bores. The paint is a high temperature ceramic paint meant for engine blocks and cylinder heads. I need to spray the heads next, just gotta mask off the mating surfaces for the manifolds and spark plug holes.

AWESOME! I need to schedule some time to get with you on modding the Caddy distributor for HEI. I got a complete TBI 454 setup with harness and computer.

Awesome build so far, I'm guessing you are planning on running an adapter plate to mate the Chevy trans to the Caddys BOP style bell housing pattern? There was one company out there that builds TBIs that flow more cfm then the Qjet you were planning on using. I will need to search up the link for them if they still exist since apparently the one i had now leads to some school related site.

Yeah, Jeg's has the BOPC to Chevy adapter plate for 60 bucks. I'm going to stick with stock flow for the TBI at this point as the Caddy is going to be putting out so much grunt that any extra flow is going to be wasted. I'm going to use a cam improvement with roller valve train, headers with a free flowing dual exhaust with oxygen sensors for the TBI computer.

The next big purchase right now is a good used 4L80E to go behind the Cadillac. I want to install the engine and trans as one unit to do it in one shot.

The 4L80 would def be a good upgrade behind that beast. Def going to keep tabs on this project to come up with ideas for my eventual Burb build. Probably won't be starting that till next year after i get out of school. But that gives me plenty of time to observe various builds and come up with a plan.
