There are a bunch of S&S LMTVs (cab-over 4x4 trucks) on Government Liquidation

The gxv ones are the former Brazos from BAE. They were built for civilian use and are registered with VINs and usually contain cummins engines (instead of CAT) and most have the necessary Emissions equipment where the spare tire is pictured (gxv does not have this on the pewter one). The 4x4 has an upgraded interior option but I don't know what that gets you. Even the base is much more consumer like. I saw some pics of the interior before but they are hard to rediscover.

Before you buy a military vehicle:
Top speed... not so much, and LOUD when it gets there.
Ride, yea, like a buckboard, btw, how is your back?
Fuel economy... the government was buying, who cares? It has a damn big filler though.
Tires, hey, there are surplus tires cheap. When they run out, you can't afford them, Like $1500 each can't afford them.

I have one, A CUCV, it will do 63mph, damn loud. If I drive it more than around town I hate myself. Everyone gives me the right a way, a big plus. They figure I have nothing to lose.

Lmtvs aren't that loud. They'll cruise at 60 and that's limited. So it'll cruise faster. They don't ride that bad either. They're fuel economy isn't worse than anything else that size.

Stewart & Stevenson M1081 LMTV 4x4 Cargo Truck:
I see turbo diesel nearly 300 hp and 800 torque, 7 speed auto allison, air ride cab, tire inflation system, integrated hydraulics and winches, 5+ft fording depth, under 15k...
But 5.5 to 6.5 mpg filling the 58 gal tank every 400 or so miles kills me, maybe if I was hauling life saving supplies to a remote village. I still feel like there could be a tune for this platform that makes it viable for long distance travel.

Buddha.

Finally in expo white.
I drove one of these(only once) from Ft.McCoy Wisconsin to St.Paul MN. They are much nicer to spend time in than the up-armor hummers(which are horrible). At 55 mph convoy speed all highway no idling I believe I calculated 9mpg with the LMTV and 12mpg with the up-armor humvee.
