Think I've found my Hundy only it's a Lexus

Why do you want to sell that beast? Looks unique.

Personally, I'm not interested in a modded rig but I imagine others are.

CSG, since you in the market for a 2002-2006, I'd say spend the extra and go for something 2003+.

As for this 2002 LX, there are a lot of nice added features over the LC in the early years.

Halogen Projector headlights
Memory seats
Softer Leather
Powered fold in side view mirrors
Home Link (not sure when this became avail on LC)
Better stereo (marginally)
Nicer climate control system
Nicer instrument cluster

Theses features can be removed or disabled:
AHC
auto-retract steering wheel

Features which may or may not be an advantage:
Higher security key
Real wood trimming
Interior air filtration (can be added to most LC's)

Oh, I've been looking but I'm not going to buy out of the local area so I'm limited. I found a nice CPO 2006 in Boise with 34k miles but they are asking $49k and even at a much better deal, I'm not going to spend that much. $25k was about my top budget. The '03 offers the 5 speed and a little more HP but I haven't found one locally. If this one doesn't work out I'll be starting fresh.

I ended up buying the one mentioned earlier. Very clean. The undercarriage was very clean and the only rust was the light bit you often see on the exhaust system. About a 9/10 with just under 68k miles and 2002 model year. I'll post up a photo tomorrow but it will be a driveway shot.

It was used as a commuter vehicle back and forth between Vegas and Jackson Hole and was traded in on a new one. Must be nice to be loaded!

I hope it's as reliable as they are said to be and was reassured by Lexus USA telling me that it had been serviced by the book since day one. I still feel a bit anxious. ;)

This is a photo from the dealer's lot. Not much but at least it's a picture!

I have noticed some paint peeling from the edge of the passenger side rear fender. There's the slightest ripple at the wheel well that makes me think shopping cart. Doesn't appear to be from any sort of serious accent/fender bender. I know there have been complaints on the Lexus forums about chipping on darker colors but this is a bit different. I'll show it to a local body shop tomorrow and see if we want to touch it up any. The undercoat is fine. The area in question is above the cladding in this photo on the under edge of the wheel well and right where the rear door meets it.

Showed the paint thing to a couple body shops this morning and both said pretty much the same thing - don't worry about it. One shop (where we do business with the dealership) mixed up a bottle of touch-up paint in case I wanted to mess with it.

Meanwhile, the rig seems to run well and everything appears to work. Of course it had just been given the 70k mile service by the Lexus dealer so everything should work! ;)

Hope we have it for years to come.

Congrats! A few things you can do to reduce the possibility of breaking at some point:

-Have the dealership disable the auto-retract steering wheel feature. PM me if you need instructions.

-Leave the side mirror toggle in the middle position so it doesn't tilt down the mirrors every time you put it in reverse.

-Have the dealership or do yourself flush the AHC system. Supposed to be done every 60k miles but it is often not listed on the maintenance schedule.

Thanks for the tips. I've heard the AHC was supposed to be flushed either at 30 or 60k. If it's on the Lexus schedule I'd guess it was done on this vehicle as it's always been serviced at the Lexus dealer. I'll call Lexus and check.

I hate the steering wheel thing moving like that so I'll ask about that too. This morning the mirrors kept going screwy and tilting down. It didn't occur to me it was caused by having the mirror toggle on one side or the other. I set it in the middle and it quit but it didn't occur to me why.

I've got to read the manual!!

No and no. I like the running boards and spoiler.

BTW, I was able to get a complete service record from the local Lexus dealer and the AHC fluids were taken care of a little past 60k miles.

Congratualtions. I just got my LC into Canada on Thu and it's getting inspected tomorrow. I've been driving around with a HUGE grin on my face.

I'm sure you will be too. Enjoy!

Sort of the same around here in that there seem to be more LX's for sale than LC's but neither is plentiful.
