Thinking of buying a Winnebago Revel van. Talk me out of it?

LIsted for $159,995 at an RV show in Michigan a week or so ago. The vendor was General RV. I did not get into negotiations because I figured out it wasn’t for me after spending some time in it.

The only reason I can see to buy a Revel is if you need financing. It's pretty hard to get financing on an empty cargo van and a build out. But if you're a cash buyer, then it's possible to get so much more quality for your money buying an empty van and getting a builder. Revels look nice from the outside, mostly due to MB styling. Unfortunately, the inside is a cheaply built, mass produced Winnebego product with plastic walls and hardly any storage.

Your use plan as in park in one spot work in town then do weekend trips? Vs being mobile all the time not in any one area for more than a few days? The type of use plays into what setup works best. Trailers have pluses being able to park in a “trailer place” RV park- private side yard, private property etc- and have the bulk of your stuff there vs sitting in your car at the gym. The negative being its more work to hook up and go.
The van definitely fits the ease of just going when you want with little effort. Negative of the van yep no way to secure it and all your stuff is in it.

All depends on your use plan. As for vans? Go gas over diesel far easier to maintain fewer challenges finding people to do work on them.
Your use I’d go custom build via small shop by people who have spent alot of time in their vans. Ie know how to build them.
Mountain Made Vans among the others mentioned definitely far better than Winnebago for the $

Fwiw- I am seeing the price drop on 2023 Revels down to $150k or lower. Might be a good time to pick one up if you’re still in the market for one.

Where’s the $150k places you are seeing. I thought I ruled this one out, but I’m keeping my options open. Looking for dealers I may not have heard of as well.

Im looking at all these similar models. Pleasureway Rekon, Storyteller, Jayco Terrain etc.

I'm betting they get a lot cheaper and probably soon. I'm not saying that with the gloom and doom attitude some have lately, expecting the world to end soon due to the temporarily awful economy. I'm saying it because they just built too damn many of those things for the market to support. I predict they will be like the Winnebago View in a few years, tons of them being driven around beat to death and selling for peanuts.

RV universe and other rv sales sites have the 2023 New condition for slightly less than $150

At the risk of opening a can of worms, it depends on where you want to go. We are home from a two week wander during which our Montero was about as big a vehicle as I'd want to take on some narrow and winding sections on four "roads" which would have been impossible in a Winnebago.

RVTrader has several 2022 new Revels for less than $150 and a few 2023 also for just under $150.
