I've had two Discos and they were both great, no real issues with either one. Had a '96 and an '02. Wish I hadn't sold the 02 everyday. I now have the most unreliable biggest POS (out of 22 cars) I've ever owned, an 05 CTS. Its on the chopping block soon.

You're first rover is like dating the hot blond, half crazy chick! At first you overlook the crazy part because it's part of her alure and quite honestly, it makes the intimacy much better. Then as time goes on, the crazy part starts to become a problem in your life. If you decide to keep dating her, it will come down to your personality type and how you deal with it that will determine how happy you are in your continued relationship.

Bottom line...Not everyone has the personality to date a hot blond!

Fixed it:
Bottom line...Not everyone has the personality to date a CRAZY hot blond!

Just find the right hot blond Rover, and skip the crazy, and you'll be fine!!

And that's the rub...at first it's not always easy to see the crazy through the blond, especially if it's your first.

My evolution of 4x4s for the last 22 years starting from 16th b-day:

1980 Toyota
1985 s-10 Blazer
1988 Ranger
1977 Scout II
1973 CJ-5
1964 CJ-3b
1985 Toyota 4runner
1992 Range Rover Classic

I'm new to the RR family but have always loved them. Now that I'm married and have two kids the RR is the only one that could get us all plus the dog into the woods comfortably. Although I'd love to still have the Scout II and the CJ-3b.

Good thread. Like the OP, I have a Jeep, but keep looking at Rovers. I know it makes no sense, as I have a very capable truck now, etc, but the look of an old RR or D1 just gets me thinking. Rovers are cheap around here too, as there are almost no dealers in New England.

you need a Defender as an Expo truck and a Jeep as a daily driver :)
Thats what i do
I wish I could afford that most righteous combo but I will just have to live with a beat up D1 and an ancient Honda Civic. I just can't seem to convince my wife to either embezzle or rob banks. Nobody could ever suspect her angelic self.

If your willing to do a lot of the work, there are defenders (rest of world) in the US for decent prices or a nice series truck all under 15k. I daily drove my defender for 5 years as well, so it can be your only vehicle.

I'd kill for a Defender four-door pickup. Hell, I'd kill for a standard 110. I envy those that can get them and mod them up.

I to have a fascination with LR as well and come from a long line of jeeps. Now that I'm older and turning grey and feel like I can afford one and would like a little more creature comforts associated with the brand I find myself increasingly looking at the 07 & 08 LR3s for a modiste build. Don't hate me fellow Jeepers I feel for you!

never owned a rover, but have always been intrigued by them. Being a jeep guy, I too relate to the more comfort option/s. I see plenty around my town most probably never even locked in to 4wd.

Unless there's a lot of Series Rovers in your town no chance of that. They've full time 4wd for decades (excluding the Evoque). I do see a lot of soccer moms in lifted Jeeps that have never been in 4wd though
