The F250 will ride and handle like crap when compared to any 1/2 ton. When my work truck is unavailable (2017 GMC 2500) I will take one of my offices Dodge Caravans to avoid driving one of our F250...lol.

The F250 will also guzzle fuel doing the same job as a 1/2 ton, unless you are pulling some serious weight.

As for the solid axle... There is not an epidemic of IFS failures...or any failures really. Every failure that I have seen has been related to a cheap lift kit and/or incorrext CV axle angles.

Front locker plus ifs is going to mean carnage at some point if you like power. I personally broke 2 axles in my old 4runner (that was not lifted much) bouncing a tire at full lock. Dumb, yes, younger man, yes.

And 3/4 ton trucks ride worse than 1/2 ton trucks empty, for sure... but you can adjust that based on your weight needs. See the power wagon or any ram with thuren springs.

While you bring up a good point in reguards to IFS... A 4 Runner is not nearly as strong as any of the new 1/2 tons on the market...lol.

Go to any drag strip and you will see someone on sticky tires, launching a high HP 4x4 in 4hi, over and over again with no issue. The 600+ HP supercharged 5.0s all run the stock front IFS and they can see massive amoints of abuse with out flinching.

Any time I have been to a "mud hole" here in FL there is no shortage of 1/2 ton IFS trucks with 6" lift and 35s getting absolutely beat on...and rarely does something go wrong.

i think the new 3/4-1 tons ride pretty dang good, my sensitivity meter must need resetting.

Compared to what, a dump truck??? Haha

I drive a 1/2 ton to work and sign out a 3/4 ton to drive around. I put about 20k a year on my personal truck and about 45k a year on a gov't vehicle. My posterior is well acquainted with the ride of a 3/4 ton...lol.

There is absolutely no comparison in the ride quality between the two.

Well I gotta replace a half shaft in mine... yay me. I suppose a cornstalk got in there and tore the boot up, I have no idea what else could do it. Truck is bone stock aside from OEM optional "oversize" tires.

IMO they can take the CV crap and shove it.

No vacuum crap for hubs and real u-joints IMO are pretty fair sized perks for a solid front axle (Ram) If only I could get them to trash the stupid unit wheel bearings we would really be onto something.

That is one nice thing about the new Ranger, the front axle always turns so there is no junk to mess up in the front end. When they went to that on the old Ranger the mpg difference wasn't measurable.

Like I said I must not be as sensitive you. the last two 3500's a Ram and a Duramax, both 2019's, were both smooth and comfortable and both were empty. Could easily do 1000 mile days in either of them. It is the different strokes for different strokes thing.

Maybe different trucks? Is this an apples to apples comparison or is one truck a base work truck and the other a Denali? I'm sure that would make a difference too....

(I responded sarcastically because I do at least 1 "IronButt" ride a year... I am definitely not sensitive. )

We have 2 XL F-250's at work, I don't think they ride too bad. Both are 2wd with TIB front suspension so that probably helps.

I figure a newer 3/4 ton probably rides about the same as my old half ton. I haven't test driven a newer 4x4 yet.

I agree completely. I too prefer a 3/4 tons firm controllable ride over a 1/2 tons soft flexy flier ride.
Think Mustang GT vs Coupe deVille. I'm uncomfortable in Cafillacs and 1/2 tons.

1/2 tons only ride OK empty. Put 500# in back and they are virtually overloaded.
3/4 tons ride best loaded and yes they are firm empty... or loaded.
Old Dodges 1/2 or 3/4 ton empty or loaded ride like buckboards.

I have ridden in numerous trucks.
I usually really dislike the ride in the modern 1/2 ton. They feel floaty and boaty. I like the ride of the modern 3/4 ton. The older 3/4 ton's 80's-90's are rough, you can loose a filling going over a speed bump ha ha.

Sorry not meant as a jab if that is the way you took it. How about I must be more tolerant of a rougher ride? For the record I did my first Iron Butt (before there was even an Iron Butt Association) in 1977 Las Vegas to Missoula non stop on a honda CB750 with no fairing and have done many since altho never filled out the paper work. Anyway for me and me alone I think the new HD are comfortable and fortunately my wife does too.

Well I think you guys should watch Chris from venture4wd video this week . In short his jeep is in at OK4wd getting repaired .They give him a new mid size as a loaner ,in the morning first day out he pulls a steering link right out of the steering rack. Broke down on the mud road or trail .Now this is the fun part ,he calls OK4wd and they come out to recover him . They drive right out to him in a dodge 2500 or 3500 pulling a two axle car trailer . load up the broken truck and drive back out . Don't know what my point is ,but you can draw your own conclusion.
