Thoughts on Off Road Bumpers?

Do the other aftermarket plate bumpers offer crush zones on their bumper horns, like on the ARB?

Nothing has came up in my search, and others have said no when I asked the same. I'm wondering if those crumple brackets can be used with other aftermarket bumpers without much modification...

Just installed a pelfreybilt aluminum Bumper and 10k winch. Coming from an ARB, its a huge improvement weight wise. My current set-up (with a winch) is under 100 lbs. I installed the entire thing myself.

My previous ARB set-up on my '07 was over 150 lbs (Not sure exactly how heavy it was).

Now, if I were consistently relying on my bumper for bashing rocks and hitting other objects, I would have considered putting an ARB on my '13.

But, I am willing to admit that 98% of my driving on the road and I want to be more weight conscious this time around. Also, having to keep the front (Stock) bumper and cut it, plus how big ARB had to make the bumper for 2012-2015 was a deal breaker for me.

All-in-all I am happy with transitioning to aluminum (also have aluminum skids). The weight savings is noticeable during braking (which is VERY noticeable as you add weight to a Tacoma) and acceleration.

Strength wise is TBD, pending climbing trips to Moab this spring/summer.

I have a pelfreybilt aluminum bumper as well, haven't hit anything yet so I can't say how strong it is. My aluminum skids held up fine in Moab 2 weeks ago. But its built well and adds tons of clearance which saved me in moab 2 weeks ago. IMO the weight savings is well worth the added price, I think my bumper with single hoop was around 60lbs.

I got the front and rear ARB bumpers for the added protection, air bag compatibility, and because they serve as great cup holders, additional options for storage, work space and lighting. Will be doing the almost exact same set up for the Patrol GQ/Y60, which currently has a bull bar that came with the purchase of the vehicle. The ARB front bumper is on order as a replacement. Still undecided about the rear.
