I own all three in the discussion: SWB, LWB, DII.
SWB is good for me, passenger and small kids. Camping requires roof rack. Rear storage is hampered by the angles rear lines of the RRC.
LWB is good for me and passengers. Camping requires roof rack. Rear storage is hampered by the angles rear lines of the RRC.
DII is okay for me, but to be comfy (6'2) no one behind me is best. Camping requires roof rack. Rear storage is great as I can stack boxes vertically in the cargo area. I own a SE7. Wife loves the rear "occasional" seats. Headrests are nice back there too, but occasionally.
I have off roaded/road tripped in the LWB and SWB. Long road trip in the DII. For me, LWB is a daily and preferred family car due to rear seat space.
Like oryxexpeditions said, one becomes two.....
For availability of service off the shelf and away from home: DII
Ability to fix on the trail: RRC
Power: (my 4.6) DII
Parking: RRC. Mine is 3" lift with rack and goes in the standard garage, the DII is stock height and same fit. Lifted, it would be outside.
Camping: The DII with 7 seats will be okay, but trailer for gear would be needed with all the kids. Depends on how far you will go to get to camp.
4 kids, I'd go DII with 230 tcase and 4.6L. Hope that helps a little.
