You know the rig?

No, but looking at the pics I could see things. I just did not want to hurt anyones feelings when it did not need to be done, I would just stay clear, that is all and is JMO.

I wouldn't pay what the current bid is judging on the pics. If it is possible for you to see it before hand I would check it out. I could be wrong, but I am going to go with Desertoutpost on this one.

be carefull with E-BAY

I worked on a 65 GTO that this guy got on EBAY FOR $40,000 and the firewall, floorboards, and trunk were patched with fiberglass, the frame was cracked in four places and had been bent back into shape in the rear at one time, long story short we ended up doing a frame up restoration useing a good frame from a donor GTO. Make sure you see it in person.

I was curious about this:

What the hell is that? That cannot be the stock fuel tank, can it? It looks patched in?

I'd definitely say pass. This has all the earmarks of a project someone started and then got tired of halfway through. It looks totally half assed.

That 2L engine is a legendary POS... Underpowered and chronic fuel pump problems. I almost bought a truck in probably better shape than this for $600 last summer with a blown fuel pump and I could not find anyone who could rebuild this pump. Some people swear by the engine but it takes a lot of major work and you still have a dog at the end of the day. I would stay away.

Also my philosophy on ebay vehicles. No problem selling cars on ebay but I personally very seldom buy certain items such as cars on ebay. It is the largest buyer market in the world, pretty much the worst place to buy a vehicle in my opinion because it has millions of viewers. A guy in the next town over bought a non running no weather stripping FJ40 off ebay for $22G. Honestly almost got what he deserved for complete idiocy (a guy with more money than brains unfortunately)...

You can find way better for way less. Somebody started a project and stopped half way through. My dad just bought and 88 extra cab with 130k on it and a 2" lift for $300. It needed some serious brake work up front and the bed has some bad rust which I guess wouldn't work in cali, but everything else on the truck is flawless. The 22re gets almost as good mpg as that diesel although it probably has less torque. Even after he does the brakes and builds the bed he will still be under 1k. Granted he is in the Midwest were Toyotas are sought after like brain cancer.

I've purchased two vehicles on eBay, both transactions were great. I would not ever do it without speaking to the seller on the phone at least once and grilling them on the condition.

22k for non-running 40? Ugh.

I might be missing something, but the fuel tank looks the same as on my '84.
