Thule artificial rain gutters

AFAIK those are really intended for people with toppers/shells. At least I've never heard of anybody using those on a vehicle body. I sure wouldn't drill holes into the body of my vehicle just to get an artificial gutter, especially since there are Yakima and Thule mounts that don't require gutters and are made for pretty much every vehicle out there.

Didn't gutters pretty much disappear around 1992-93 when most vehicles went to "aircraft style" doors with internal gutters? I know that the last vehicle I owned with exterior gutters was my 1990 Montero.

They have other apps like those that were used on my trailer to mount a RTT.
