Iv been searching for a 4x4 van. Not a easy task. Sure I found old gassers within 500 miles of me.. But I really need a diesel to pull my camper so Im wondering what it would take for a diesel swap bla bla bla..

Has anyone seen a kit or project where the rear cab wall on a truck was removed to connect it to a camper or topper?

You will probably have to buy one and convert it to 4WD. eBay, CL are your friends.

Why not find a good 2wd and convert it to 4x?

Iv been looking for one of those as well.. No dice. All of the 1 ton ford 2wd were well over 200k and yes I know they have been known to run half a million.. But Iv got a high limit of 175k for a 7.3 cuz of the cavitation issue. Throw away engines when time for rebuild due to the thin cylinder walls. IMO unless you re-sleeve.

I apologize because I'm frustrated. Iv got a 6.2 diesel truck I used once so I really don't want another. I need economy more powa and a van.

I keep having flashbacks of monarch pass when my clutch fluid boiled last august because I dont have a van to replace the truck yet.

I just talked to a guy with 410K on a 7.3 and read about a few over 500k.. but I feel its fairly rare. Not for a cummins though. The ram falls apart around it though.

Iv been dismissing the 6.0vans and don't know much about converting a duramax van. Narrows down the eligible van list real fast.

A 6.0 is fine with the proper modifications. I have a writeup with my opinion on my FAQ page. Here's a nice low mileage 6.0 for a steal.

That is nice but no windows please.. And at that price, plus the 4x4 conversion costs, puts me in that upper price range where I might as well wait and travel for the perfect van.

The 6 liter is hit and miss. My bud has one and no regrets he says.. He had to pull the cab to do the studs etc though.. He knows a few guys who paid big money to keep them running. Not enough studs imo

Well, U-joint is dropping a cummins into an econovan.

Anything is possible with time, money, and skills. Unfortunately we all are missing at least one of those, I am missing all three.

And that van sounds really cheap--like something is about to go. If it is the tranny, fine since that probably needs work anyway for the conversion. If it is the engine, not so fine. The rear axle ratio is bad--again no big if you are upgrading to a sterling or adding a locker anyway.

The way they mounted the passenger seat is a red flag as to the quality of work!!! but as long as that person didn't touch the engine it may not be a problem.
