Tires for a heavy van

I've had bad luck with BFG KM2 on the van. I think it's just too heavy for them. I'd really like to stay with an agressive tire if I can find one that will not squirm on the road so much. If not ill settle for an All Terrain tread. What tires hold the road and the weight? I'd like to keep my 16x8" rims and run a 32-35" tire. 34 would be perfect but I may go smaller if you think it will run down the freeway better.

I have been running a BFG D rated all-terrain 35" with ford factory steel rims. My van weights in just under 9500 fully loaded. Yes I should be running an E rated tire, I have been driving and pulling for 30k miles last year. not had a single problem. I rotate every 5k miles. I really like the Goodyear duratrack all terrain its E rated. (had them on my last diesel). My only disappointment was the rubber is kinda soft, but has amazing off-road capabilities and they are amazing on ice!

I also have heard great things about the Toyo's too, if you want a mud terrain. but personally I drive to much on the highway and don't need anymore road noise with having a super loud 7.3.

Toyo for sure

First post. Welcome to ExPo!

I'm getting quotes on 295 75 16 E at just over $1200 out the door with road hazard. That's like a 33.4" version of the AT II. Has anybody seen the AT II and are they wimpy street tread or OK off road tread?

I found the BFG Commercial All Terrain to be a really nice tire FWIW. I run the E rated 10-ply tire - no idea if they even make it in lower load ratings. Limited tire sizes, however. Runs quiet and has great traction for being an AT. So far wear has been damn good as well.

Last time that tire was updated BFG gave out cool T-shirts. They brought them to Jeep Jamborees on rims for folks to try out. They did great. Personally I'd like a newer design just because those have been out so long. They will sell a million tires when they update it.

I didn't think the commercial version had been out for years, but I really have no idea... the regular AT/TA KO has been out for so long I think I saw some BFG tracks alongside some dinosaur tracks last time I was in utah ;)

Old BFG's have got the job done for decades. With the next four years bringing higher fuel and tax cost I just canceled my order for the Toyo's. They already prorated out the blowout so I'll roll on them and keep my money and the tax out of the economy. I'm glad I live near great outdoor stuff because extensive over landing in the van is costly. Just the way the city slickers want it.

goodyear dura tracks, run them on my E350, dragging a 10k lbs trailer across the country. has a good agressive tread, yet minimal road noise. very pleased with them
