I want to get some opinions. Going to be buying new tires soon in 31x10.5x15, I'm currently looking at Firestone Destination M/T's, Toyo Open Country M/T's, KM2's, Maxxis, and possibly The Kuhmo MT's. These will probably be used mostly on the street, and will see winter weather, but with time allowing some trail use as well. I'm not worried about ride quality or noise, but I don't want a tire that wears out extremely fast. I'm trying to keep the price down as well, so MTR's are probably out of the question.

I ran a set of toyo's on my Dodge when I first got it and they didn't last 20000 miles for me. I have always had good luck with BFG's, M/T's or A/T's.
The A/T's on the XJ have not failed yet and the KM2's on the Dodge have worked wonders in anything I've taken them through.

Automotive ADHD is fun!
BFG A/T. They're more expensive to buy, but they last longer than any other tire I've ever used. I had one set that I just moved from truck to truck for probably 6 years of daily use.
EDIT: Not that much more expensive - Treadepot has them for about $6 more than the Coopers.

Wow, thats really cheap. The only reason I didn't mention cooper's was because I got a quote of almost $1000 mounted and balanced for them, so I figured they were expensive tires.

I had them and they were alright, I now run the MT/R with Kevlar by Goodyear and am amazed at how well they work. Their new duratrac AT seems to be working very well in mud, snow, mixed conditions as well.

on New Years got myself a set of 33x12.50R15 BF KM2s.
LOVE THEM...
Noise is low, grip is great... Sort enough for cold weather... Siped them for better traction, not too good on sheer ice (but that I do with chains).
Definitely recommend them.
I've bought my set from America's Tire (Discount Tire) with their on-road/off-road insurance policy for all four - $1000...
That insurance is best thing you can get with the tires.

I have the Kumho KL71's on my XJ. I'm running 32x11.50r15's. These tires have done everything I have asked. Mud,Rock,snow and sand. There only down fall is the wear,12,000 on them and over half gone.
