Top Gear: K5 vs. Jeep vs. Bronco

Come on, didn't anyone think the carpet rolling track wasn't the coolest idea? :D Much better idea than the flip the Bronco on it's side and drag it.

I thought it was kind of neat to see places I have traveled through and say, hey, I've been there!

UKTG is definitely better, even my wife finds it entertaining. USTG still has a ways to go.

When you aren't paid for with commercials and you get a full hour instead of 40ish minutes, you can show the extra stuff. I'm willing to accept them cutting out the intro, the fab, etc for more 'challenges' and the like.

What I meant was, there is no way anyone converted any of those vehicles in only 12 hours. (more like, days or weeks)

Long time fan of the original version and I do like the US version as well. Basically it is guys doing whatever the hell they want with all kinds of different cars. What's not to like? It's just entertainment, not rocket science.

Thanks for posting that OP.

Just Plain Fun

You have got to appreciate them being just stupid with vehicles. How could one not like seeing the guy go drifting in a F450 dually. I missed the episode with the K5 and Jeep, but it will be on again. The UK version is a little more entertaining, becasue the like to understate everything so much. Hopefully in a couple more seasons it will have a better flow.

I do think its fun to watch how they are just stupid with the vehicles, but its the stuff like the Toyota pickup (very bad ***, the backup off road rig) getting bashed to no end because its 'foreign' that makes me not like the show.

And last night, the Dodge Aries (come on.. that's a total pile of junk, lets be honest) beat the Honda CRX as a better first car.

(edit) And I am not anti-american when it comes to cars and trucks either.. my daily driver is a 2001 F350 7.3. (Our other cars are an older Nissan, and a 08 Mazda)

That show makes me laugh pretty hard. As far as the Toyota and the shame they are expected to endure for having to ride out in it has a different meaning that some don't quite get. I see it as this was a best domestic 4X4 test and when and if they break the guys are forced to admit that the little foreign truck is the superior vehicle. As a die hard domestic vehicle fan I tend to get a annoyed with them making comments about their reliability. I have personaly owned many Chevy trucks and K5s before becoming an avid Mopar fan and all of my 10-20 year Chevy and Dodge old trucks had well over 100 thousand miles on the original drivetrains without any problems when I sold them and they still got alot more use with the next owners. I even had a 91 K5 with 4in lift and 35s that I beat on pretty hard and it had over 300k on all original drivetrain with no rebuilds when I sold it. I like the show though because I think it's pretty funny and the Viper is still the fastest car around the track.

the only part i find annoying is when their experts act like idiots.

yep the ford bronco was a piece of crap. not because the driver was an idiot, but because the axle had c clips. um the blazer and the jeep rear axles both had c clips, so yeah. and every one of those vehicles was capable of traversing death valley.

i would have rather watched them show off the capabilities of the vehicles in a tough environment. and entertain us by destroying economy cars in death valley.

the alaska show was another example of something that could have been cool ruined by incompetence.

Any Bronco up through 1979 with a Ford 9" would never let go of an axle shaft like that. If you want a Ford, don't buy newer than 79. In my opinion, 1980 marked the end of the real truck era for Ford.
