I'm posting this link here because it may be interesting for those researching the Toyo MTs. Post #64 is specifically about the LT255/8516 size that this thread is about.

I posted to the above thread because this is the same thread where I had posted the initial 'tire pull' problems I was experiencing with the Toyo MTs on my 4Runner.

Snow Update...

Well got 'em in the AZ snow...

They did a lot better than I thought. The below pictures are from Overland Training where we were trying to get the truck stuck, so I was at street pressure and not aired down.

Overall in comparison to the BFG MT's they seem to grip a bit better, and might be due to the difference in siping (how do you spell that?). When aired down they tend to give me more grip than the BFG's ever did. Although they are a stiffer tire with the load range E, they still tend to deform to the terrain well enough to get traction. One of my main concerns was that visually when airing down they looks the same at street pressure to a relatively high aired down state like 18psi.

They are definitely not snow tires, but still exceeded my expectations in the snow.

I have 2 years on my Cooper STs with mostly long-distance dirt roads with gear for two. They have help up really well without any problems. They are getting a bit loud on the street but very manageable. I say they are a very good bargain.

Have these tires been compared to the km2 yet? I saw the older pic of them next to some worn and siped bfg muds, but I was wondering if it would be possible to get a comparison pic of the km2 and toyo mt next to each other. Not really wondering for myself so much as just wondering in general, plus with them both being so popular, it would be cool, kind of like a duel, a battle royale, of sorts...

I agree, I would also like to see the pics or do the comparison myself. A couple challenges are that I returned my Toyo MTs as they pulled/tracked to the right on my 4Runner and I was not willing to invest $1,000.00 on tires I could not run on my primary 4x4 (though I have other vehicles I could fit them to).

It also seems difficult to find some KM2s in 255/85 as they are on national back order, and there is even one report from 24HRS that BFG is not going to continue making them in this size.

I very much like the 'look' of the KM2 and I can see how it could be a very quiet MT/agressive tire similar to the Toyo MT. How quiet I would like to hear for myself on my Toyota.

Wow, I sure hope not, even though I drive so little that it takes me 5 years to go 30,000 miles, I was hoping to get the KM2 in a 255/85r16 for my next tire set.

Hopefully that is just a rumor on 24HRS, it would seem to me if BFG is selling out of this size tire they would up the ante and make more of them. If I were a salesman and I was selling something like hotcakes, I would want more of them to sell. That is just my logic...

I was up in Vegas yesterday and talked to a Toyota tech who was telling me they are having the same problem with the toyo's. He is running the Yok Geolander and they have not had any problems.

Unfortunate for those with the tacking/pulling problems with the Toyo MT or similar tread (I know of one Cooper STT report) but nice to hear confirmation of the drivability issue I was experiencing. Most of my comments and observations regarding 'tire pull' on my 4Runner with Toyo MTs are noted in the thread linked below.

Though I don't prefer a load-range-E, I like the tire and really wanted them to work on my platform.

Sorry you don't have these available, but you guys have some cool stuff down under that we don't have over here :)

I want these to be sold in australia....Toyo dont bring them over here :(
