Yeah, that camper looks similar. That might be for a fullsize though--might be too wide.
I'm using expanding foam between the camper and cab. It seems to be working pretty well. I just had to add more tension to the strap holding the camper toward the front so the foam doesn't break loose when I'm climbing in low-range.

The interior carpet was one of the first things to go when I got the 4runner about 12 years ago. The interior's all Herculined. The only thing I took out was the rear seatbacks. The rear seat bottoms are still in place.
The camper's wedged in there pretty tightly at the back. I had to trim some of the metal seam around the tailgate to get it to fit width-wise. At the front, there's one of the big (about 3") cargo straps that runs through the front bottom of the camper floor and is tensioned into the front seatbelt anchors.
Someday I might bolt the camper down, since it stays in there all the time (I don't even have camper jacks). It's been working pretty well the way it is though.

there is a company that makes a vinyl/canvas water proof cab/"bed" seperator for 1st gen 4runners. It's meant for people that have soft tops or have the top off in the cold. I wish I could remember the company but you can probably find it.

Okay, I have some pictures...sorry about the delay.
It's nothing pretty but it works. I started off using yellow foam because it said it stayed more flexible. I think the white foam is just as flexible though, and doesn't look quite as strange.
Then down lower a taped in a piece of that bubble wrap-foil insulation to block the air that comes in between the bed rails and camper.
It's pretty cozy in the cab now. I like driving with the front camper window open for better visibility and to reach things through but I can close it when the dogs are in the camper to act as a dog barrier.

That set up would not work for me, I have to have a back seat for the baby...
but I like it. It looks like it works pretty well.
one mopre pic request... does the unit hang off the back of the 4runner? can you post up a pic of the side view?
I may have asked this ? before but, have you ever had any thoughts of the window in the tailgate breaking due to rough offroading?

The foam doesn't look like it would absorb water but I'll have to try it sometime. When it cures it gets a smooth skin on the outside that looks like it's water resistant. I haven't had any trouble with water yet.
This camper has an 8-foot floor length so it does stick out past the back of the bed and it lines up with the end of the open tailgate.
I think you (or someone) did express concern about the tailgate window. I hadn't though about it at first but I'm not too worried. The rear suspension rides pretty smoothly with the extra weight on the back, and I'm a gentle driver. If I were rear-ended or backed into something hard enough though, it would probably wreck the camper and break the glass in the tailgate. I guess I'll only worry about that if it happens though.
I originally wanted to find a camper that I could set up more like a Chinook or Chalet, with a pass-through to the cab and camper seating when traveling. I think there are some campers this might work with (maybe Hallmark, with the forward, opposed front benches) but this camper is too low-profile for sitting on the camper bench with the roof down, and the water tank takes up the forward part of the floor.

I have been toying with the idea of building a small extension box for my long bed length flip pac so I have less modifications to make to the shell... I might have to try and just throw it on the back..:wings:

I finally went and whitewashed the camper with Rustoleum Professional gloss-white--the same paint that's on the truck. I like the way it came out. It looks like it's more a part of the truck now and I think it looks newer. It might just need a few stickers for some color.
Here's the pre-fog:
And here's the "after" with the tape removed and everything put back together.
This was a really simple job--the prep consisted of a wash, tape and paper. There's just one coat of paint--right over the stripes--not even any primer. I have part of a can left for touch up. :costumed-smiley-007
