Toyota Tacoma "Off-Road" Edition

I was on my way out to work this morning from the house here in AZ. While driving down one of the major local roads I caught a glimpse of a white tacoma. Seems normal..

Looked at it a little closer while parked at a light and noticed he had one of the Manufacters plates (Michigan) and that the TRD logo on the bedside had an "off-road" edition with Mountain art work below the TRD. Standard hood, not the "sport" scoop that I have on mine.

Then I noticed the wheels were black (not grey) and that they seemed thinner and taller than a standard taco... Wonder what other goodies might not be seen?? Locker front and rear? Center Diff??

I only had a 30 second glance so I didn't have a shot at getting a photo with the camera phone. He turned left at the next light and I had to get somewhre this morning.. OTherwise I definetly would have followed..

But I'm gonna keep my eyes and camera close by since they pass my house all the time. Proving ground is only a few miles (about 5 away)... I'll post here if I get one..

Was it the current generation Tacoma or the previous body style?

A white Tacoma in Arizona... Who ever heard of such a crazy thing? ;)

So pretty much just a styling exercsize with overpriced wheels.

I got excited when I saw one as well. But then it turned out to be just black wheels and black fenders, pretty disappointing IMO.

I'll bet you could put that stuff on for less than what Toyota would charge you, except for the hilux bed.

It's the same Off Road package as it has been. They just changed the sticker design, made the wheels black and changed the fender flares back to black.

I like your style...I was hoping the first post was going to end with "and it had a diesel".

Half a year into owning our 07 TRD Off-Road #2 pack and my wife and i are still happy. The only buyers remorse is the rubber that came with (Duelers, they still pac the mud to quickly for our Oregon coast area)...we are gonna swap out the rubber as soon as they need new tread. Sometimes i think that the black rims/fenders would be nicer with mud flying, though the red all around does spruce up the truck nice after a wash.

Yeah I just read up on this package. It's the Off-Road package with an extra kick. Black rims and fenders, thats about it. Look cool, but you could probably do it cheaper yourself.

What part of AZ are you from Wagner Joe? I live in Tempe, Im tryin to find a group to go out wheelin with preferably toyotas.

Oh and have you guys seen or heard of the Tacoma concept? The Incross. It's the same tacoma design but with the 4.7 L tundra V-8!! it's about time but its not for certain its going into production. It's also got a shorter wheel base and some extra cool add on's. we can only hope

I'm in Scottsdale and always looking for someone to go out with. Hit me up if you're planning a trip.
