Nice work J.

I wondered about the noise...

When your 80 comes back to life we are going to have to get your dad out on the trails with us using that FJC :)

Just caught up with this thread Jereme...congrats on yet another LC brought in to your family!

Hey...I'm thinking it needs some custom pinstripes. Let me know if you need some help with this as I've gotten very adept pin striping mine :smileeek:

Funny how parents do the opposite of what we tell them...just a reversal of roles  Yep...you got it right: PAYBACK!

I tried very hard to get him into an 80 or 100 series, but the head gasket woes killed the 80 for him. He liked the 100 series, or a Defender 90 (I was foaming at the mouth on that one. I Showed him every picture of Andrews I could find). In the end it boiled down to this was what he wanted and he didn't want to buy something used.

I will take you up on that offer. My 80 is going to be back together this month. Powderpig aka Robbie) is coming in 9 days.

It is payback, but we have a secret weapon. While he was at Samco, Sam talked him into some Fox's like yours. The selling point was Sam ordered them in Black ano instead of their signature blue. Sam said he was going to talk to him about the quality and superiority over the Icon rears. I didn't think he would go for it. They should be here when Sam returns from the Baja 500!

It's always good to hear from you Dan.

Off topic, but Im thinking about a new shorthair pup. What do you know or think of No-mars Kennels? Im looking at a saucy little black and white female.

Well...I'm no shock authority...but I do know I LOVE my Foxes!!!

Sorry...I don't know anything about No-mars. Bogan's Ace High Kennels however I am familiar with: http://bogansacehigh.com/ Long story...but I wanted one of their pups a few years ago and instead got talked into an Epps English...which I later regretted. I have two friends that have GSP from Bogan and they are great hunters without issues. One is even a black & white male.

We originally ordered the Icon Billet Upper Control Arms (UCA). After some fitment issues with Redline's 4Runner (See the threads) we discovered there is a slight difference in the taper of the steering knuckle Between the 4Runner/FJ platform and the Tacoma platform.

With that, the search resumed for UCA's that would best fit the needs. After speaking to several Engineers, sales people and shock tuners we decided that Light Racing was the answer to our problem.

I fell into the group buy on these thanks to Redline.

Here are the Light Racing next to the Icon Billet UCA's (You can see the Icon's arrived pitted from poor packaging. The other one was much worse).

Here you can see the top nut that allows for adjustability. It's positioned in the opposite position in the picture below.

At first we were worried that the Light Racing UCA's wouldn't offer as much travel as the Icon UCA's, but a picture is worth a thousand words.

Heres a detailed pic of machined area to aid in the adjustability.

And that is probably more than you ever wanted to know about Upper Control Arms.

The Icons are on their way back to Icon. We are going to keep the Light Racing UCA's.

I don't know how improved they are as I have nothing to compare them to, but here are some pics...

Hold the phone honey! THIS is the "upgraded" skid plate?? Oh my my my....:smileeek:

We lovingly refer to that as the "bling" plate...because thats about all its good for. Do yourself a favor....take it off before it gets scratched and sell it. Then take the money and buy some real skids!!

Here is what ours looked like after one run out to Box Canyon:

Congrats on the TT though, we love the FJ! And you were trying to talk him into buying a Jeep....HA! :sombrero:

wait, time out. Is this FJC your dad's? or YOURS? LOL

It's my dad's, but he doesn't do the whole internet post thing. Every once in a while, when he's around he looks over my shoulder and asks "Are those mine?"

Or my favorite, "How many control arms are we going to buy before we make up our minds?"

Im just trying to take care of the guy. After all, he spoiled the crud out of me as a child...pre-teen, teen and adult.

Besides...I don't want to be THAT guy sitting around the campfire kicking rocks and telling lies while your father sits there with a Stock Ride! You know my father, could you imagine?

p.s. I passed on the rust bucket 95. I guess SB bought the last nice one. :)

Budbuilt skids will replace those "Upgraded" skids.

While we (Read; Robbie aka Powderpig) were anxiously waiting on the custom pistons for the 80 series engine rebuild to arrive, Robbie installed the Light Racing Upper Control Arms (UCA's) and the 2.5 Icon Coilovers in the front. Followed by the Icon coils and shocks in the rear (The black Fox's have yet to arrive).

It seems pretty empty in there right now.

Some close ups of the arms installed.

Here's a picture next to the ARB FJ that is being loaned to BajaTaco right now. For reference the ARB (Yellow) is on OME and the TT Edition (White) is set at about two inches of lift and on stock tires.

We got the Arb Roof rack mounted. He ordered the rack with the mesh floor option. It looks good, he says the wind noise is considerable. I having not spent much time in the fj before the rack was mounted can't really notice it.

We mocked up some Wedco cans to see how many fit across the top. We came up with six and a little offset room left over to mount a highlift jack.

Here's a pic with the Expedition Exchange can holder with can.

And one last pic with the can and locking strap removed.

Not bad for pics being taken with the Iphone.

Next up is the Icon/Donahoe Coilovers. I had a set of Icon Billet Upper Control arms ready, but they will be getting shipped back for fitment issues (See Redline's Thread for more).

The rear is a surprise, or at least it was for me.

I am curious to see how you mount the Expedition Exchange can holders, are you planning on running a bracket under the bars of the ARB Roof Rack?

That's his plan exactly. He was thinking of some strap mounted below the racks' floor.

He's on the waiting list for Man-a-Fre's aux tank, so we'll see how much longer he has to wait for that tank.

I'm going to be jealous of you and your Pops with your auxiliary tanks... maybe I will have something built for the Mall Crawler?

Hopefully when he gets his tank we can see how close a fit it is for the 4Runner?
