Trailer wheels to Jeep Ravines

Cheapest way would be to get a brand new axle with the correct pattern and also to get it the right width to eliminate the need for spacers

There are no "Correct" Trailer hubs to run a positive offset wheel. You need to have a spacer to get rid of the massive hub. I have no idea why trailer parts people do not make a trailer hub that fits a positive off set wheel. It wouldn't take much to cast the the mounting flange to the out side of the hub.

To run the Ravines, You will need at least a 2" thick spacer. ( I plan to run a 2.5" thick spacer to make sure there's plenty enough clearance. ) I tried to run Grizzly's on my axle with the machined out Spidertrax 1.25" spacers and I was about 3/4" from fitting. I was able to rest the wheel on the end of the studs and it would fit. These old Cherokee wheels have a huge pocket that is more trailer hub friendly. I am running them for the time being with the spidertrac hubs and there's tons of clearance.

Both my trailers used standard trailer hubs and jeep wheels
not sure why you need spacers with the ravines as the setback- design between jeep wheels should be basicly the same as the ones I used

The "why" has been clearly explained in this thread and others. If you want to run hub-centric style Jeep wheels, the Dexter and similar axle hubs are too large to fit in the hole in the center of the wheel.

so the issue must be the dexter axles....they fit fine on standard tractor store axels as pictured above

Maybe trailer hubs in the UK are different, because I've never found any trailer hubs in the US (Dexter, Harbor Freight or other) that Jeep TJ or JK alloy wheels will fit over.

Both those trailers were built in the US, with US parts from tractor supply
in 2006-2008.

No modifications were required to the hubs or wheels to make them fit that I remember- the jeep wheels were off a 1998 jeep TJ

Only arrived back in blighty last year, both the trailer build threads are here somewhere.

If I modded the wheels it would have been a file or similar as I'm sure I never had the hubs or wheels turned

No the little plastic center cap did not fit !

They fit because that's the Gambler wheel (first debuted on the YJ Renegade then later on TJ's) , it is made like the old XJ wheel I posted above. The hub hole is larger and deeper than the newer wheels. Those two wheel styles fit without a center cap. That's not a look I like so the spacers are "required" to me. The Ravines, Canyons, Grizzlys, Rubicons, etc, Are shallow where they mount and will not fit without: spacers or wheel modifications (leaving the protruding trailer hubs).

I never knew that about Gamblers... good to know!

I think I need a bigger truck!
I would ditch that axle and get one with brakes and proper 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern drums (correct spacing of course). Here, you can get a 2500# axle with electric brakes in varying widths on sale for around $300.00. The 3500# stuff is not much more.

You could also likely swap out those spindles with something either custom or off the shelf that is better suited to your needs.

My local "go to" place for trailer stuff.

If you cant find an axle just the right width, you can buy one over-sized and do a cut and sleeve it (or have a shop do it).

Sorry to drag this out but I did put on 2" adapters from an ebay seller, $75 for two. Solid so far, they do stick out about 1.5 inches past the fenders but hey its Idaho we don' have laws. Should still have plenty of space if i ever go up in tire size and now I don't need a trailer spare!IMG_4142.JPG

You might be able to fit Jeep CJ rear fender flares to extend them a bit. Something like what this guy did ...
