Woah.. Thanks guys, I don't really expect those kind of compliments on my build. It's appreciated.

I pretty much look at the truck each morning and try to figure out what I might be able to accomplish next from the very small to large task.

Man, everything is well thought out and done right!

Agreed. This build is awesome. Exceptional execution in every detail.

Wednesday I took the doors down and painted them, also removed the hinges and decided to paint them black. The chrome just wasn't holding up.
Yesterday I brought her in for the airbag recall, and then touched up the interior door panels.
Today, I replaced six remaining hinge bolts with stainless hardware..

This must weigh a ton.. So much dirt and rock came out of here it was ridiculous.

More holes!

Spent about an hour hitting the chrome with the sander using 200 grit. Took it down to a good dull finish that should hold some paint.

Got the bumper finished up and back together. There's a few spots I need to touch up, but I like the end result. Pics soon...

One of the other things on my "to do" list is potentially figure out a means of protecting the angled front and upper curved sides of the topper. These areas tend to get scraped by branches often and seem a little on the thin side. I'm worried it won't take much for a low hanging broken branch to tear a hole one day. One idea i'm kicking around is mounting heavier gauge aluminum panels over these areas using 1/4" stud mounts that may also double as a thermal barrier. I don't know that Line-X could provide any real impact or deflective protection on an aluminum skin. Maybe some durable rubber or vinyl is the way to go.

I wanna do an external ladder rack type set up on mine. But my topper doesn't sit on the bed rails so it wouldn't over hang pass the body.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind something like that. Also thought about a rack over the cab matching the height of the topper, but I like the idea of something that makes use of the sides. I never really used a roof rack enough to justify it.

That has me thinking.. Something a bit custom though, since mine is already so tall.

I'd have the rear vertical support reach just below the height of the topper and remain open above.
The forward support could arch over the lower front and extend a low profile cargo tray over the rear of the cab.

Makes me wish I could weld.

Similar to this.

Thanks. It's getting there.. I still haven't finished the sides or the top yet. Once the weather is nicer I plan to take it down for a thorough cleanup, wet sanding and finishing. Probably going to repaint the interior as well.
Looks great color marched now.

Two things. Fog lights and high beams. They just seem useless on my truck.

Fogs were an aftermarket kit, and I can hardly tell the difference when I turn them on. Thinking of swapping on some LED pods.

High beams are frightening. I can't see a thing with them on. Kind of recall having this issue on the '02 before the HID retrofit.

Fog lights are for when it's foggy... Do you have hid now? High beams should work pretty good. How are the headlight lens?

Yeah, I get that about fog lights. I installed them last year to replace the filler panels but just wired them up yesterday.

No hid, one new oem light and an oem light with an aftermarket lens swap. No issue with the low beams. I tried different bulbs too.
