Trak Shak in the US

See post #6

Weighs around 1500 lbs unloaded. Setup time is under 10 minutes for the tent + awning. It also has full and screen sides for the front awning.

It's really easier than setting up a ground tent. There sales pitch is 2 men 2 poles, 2 minutes but you'd really have to know what your doing

Cool Vid. I wish the would do videos of how long it takes to break camp though. I never seem to mind setting up. It's packing up that I don't like.

While I haven't tried my RTT yet (don't get it till next month), it's why I'll almost certainly upgrade to a hardshell RTT (autohome, CVT, etc) at some point down the road as funds allow. Or go to a teardrop (again - way down the road).

It'll be interesting to see how CCB likes it.

Does someone have a link to their Web site? I can't pull anything up with a Google search

It's really just as simple to take it down as it is to put up. Remove a few poles, and fold it back up. You just have to take your time to make sure the tent is all packed back inside the gasket on the lid. I'd set this thing up 100 times, rather than screw with a ground tent and a million poles any day of the week.

That is awesome, but 30k new in AU? wow!

They're expensive sure, but when you look at the cost of a new adventure trailer, or importing a kimberly kamper. The aussie prices don't look bad at all. I could never afford a new one, but I could never afford a new adventure trailer either.

Especially considering it's got what's essentially a 10x12x9 canvas tent. I don't even want to think what'd it take to replace that thing.

I had a previous mombasa RTT, and this really unfolds and puts away just like that did. Just on a larger scale. You can put up / take down the tent with 1 person, but it'd be a bear. With 2 people it's relatively easy.

Unless the tent is water soaked.

Or the wind is blowing 40 mph.

These tents make a lot of sense for where it never rains and the winds are moderate. Please post a video of some poor soul trying to stow the tent by himself in a rainstorm.....

My personal inclination is to have a camping solution that does not require me to swear or wait for the weather to improve before proceeding on my journey.

Why do you have to crap all over his new camping trailer? Just be happy for the guy and let him enjoy it.

I already congratulated him on his cool trailer. I really like the engineering. I was just commenting that the videos showing how fast and easy it is to use a tent like this are misleading, and this type is not for me.

Be cool...

I had never heard of that brand, and I just spent 45 minutes reading their website. There is some simply brilliant engineering there. I can't believe the pivoting boat/ solar panel rack, plus the standard outboard motor mount:

And racks for NINE jerry cans!

Zowee! That is a fine trailer. I hope you will post more pics of it and of your adventures. The only downside I can see is that it will be a real SOB to clean after a muddy trip. Have you considered mudflaps for your Jeep?

I know we are all wondering..... can you please tell us what you paid?

OK, you're right. My bad.

Had this thing out at the racetrack all weekend, and it does attract attention. Think I probably could have sold a dozen of them. Anyways...

Short of a hardshell camper anything is going to be hell to pack up in 40 mph winds. Rain won't bother it (and it was raining as we were packing up) Other than you just have to set it up again to dry out once you get home. That's no different than any other tent / pop-up.

Even with wind, this would be easier to take down than a normal tent. Everything is attached to the trailer. Undo 2 poles (okay, we used 4 for the weekend) fold it up, and fold the top back on easy-peasy. It may look daunting because it's so large, but it's well built and folds easily. You do have to wait for a minute or two to get all the air out so the lid will close.
