Trash bag ideas

Anybody have any ideas on packing out trash? We bring the plastic trash bags, but would like to put those in something else outside the vehicle. I've seen photos of people using what look like big onion bags. I've checked with my local super markets and no luck. Any other ideas? Thanks.

i would hit the dollar stores and pick up some large netted laundry bags.

they would serve the same purpose of the onion bags and would be easy washed.

Thanks guys for the replies/ideas. I'm going to check the dollar stores today and see what they got. Thanks again.

I'm planning on releasing a canvas trash bag for your spare tire like they make in OZ. I have a prototype here and hopefully i'll be able to market it soon. They're not cheap to make, so im trying to get the manuf. cost down without effecting quality. This weekend i plan to do some testing.

I've always liked the idea of using a trash bag inside of one of the larger waterproof/ dry bags.

IIRC the UAFWDC (united association of 4WD clubs?) provides red & white 'onion' bags to clubs willing to pack out trash.

A friend of mine uses previously exploded air bags. They're usually woven kelvar so they're tough and have reinforced access holes pre-existing!

They're also good for "tubing" on snow, but dog leashes aren't really up to tow rope use......

Dave , that is nice. Will the straps be adjustable for use on other objects ?

I use 10# or 50# mesh onion bags. I get about 1 of each a week from my cafe(free).:victory: f need to be green, less waste

If you cant find onion bags, use feed sacks. Grain elevator will have 'em all over. Some seed bags are still cloth, too.

collapsible trash can

Google "collapsible trash can", these things are pretty neat. The bigger ones take the 33-gallon bags, top zips shut and then your two feet smash the trash down to size. A couple of bungee cords hold the unit just about anywhere.

One warning though, through experience I have found having a sweet trash can causes people to just through their trash into it without thinking twice.

Good Luck,
